A hallmark of Lee Trevino’s swing was right arm extension. I studied this move with Tim Brantley, and it completely changed the way I think about the release. Here I’m working on allowing my right hand to thrust the handle forward and around through impact rather than trying to “hit” at the ball. It’s a great feel to try because it encourages the club to release naturally while maintaining lag and compression. Trevino understood that power comes from extending through the shot, not quitting on it. Give this feeling a try on the range and see what it does for your ball striking. 👍🏻

Not every hitter needs to “get into their legs.” Ryan Costello had always been coached to sit deeper into his legs and heels. But when you watch his swing, something stands out. He immediately comes out of his legs and moves toward the front leg. Through assessment we identified a few key things: • Best balance point: right forefoot • Axis of rotation: front leg • Limited hip/shoulder separation • Power produced primarily through the shoulders The adjustment wasn’t getting deeper into the legs. It was allowing him to organize around the front leg instead of fighting it. So far this season: 9 HR. It wasn’t a strength issue. It was coordination and balance. Different hitters coordinate balance differently. How often are we asking players to move in ways their body doesn’t naturally coordinate? Coz #ncaabaseball

This has to be a left shoulder turn into a right hook, or if you're gonna spin back, it has to be a right shoulder left hook. With Jaren Jackson Jr. on him, there is not going to be an opportunity to to just turn and dunk or lay it in. So it's pretty simple to me: Until there is a signal of a post move being developed in these positions, Gobert shouldn't be allowed to duck-in on this big of a defender. JJJ is big and good at defense! If it's someone you can just turn around and dunk on, sure, feed it. But this isn't that -- like very obviously.

Once you get to two strikes, it becomes a team at-bat. Grind it out. Compete your tail off. Choke up, shorten up, widen out, move closer to the plate — whatever helps you execute your two-strike approach. Some call it their “B swing.” Make the pitcher work. We preach “look fastball away and adjust,” but there are plenty of effective two-strike approaches. You have to experiment and find what fits your swing and mindset best. A quality two-strike approach often leads to hard-hit balls. But even when it doesn’t, the defense still has to field it, throw it, and catch it. That’s pressure. A lot tougher to defend than a right turn back to the dugout. #DoingDirtWork
