Funny story about Ryan Leslie: So I was in high school when this jawn dropped & me & my friends used to meet up at this transportation center in my city after school. This stud chick in her late 20s saw me with my short at the time & still proceeded to try to talk to me. She claimed my short (who was in the same grade as me) could do nothing for me 😳 Anyways, she was a singer & said she’d just signed with Ryan Leslie & Columbia Records. I sing & rap. I sung for her & she was so excited, talking about how sultry my voice was & how she envisioned us accepting Grammys together 😭 (Whole time, she just met me). She said she’d arrange a meeting for Ryan & I. Y’all, I was beyond hyped! I’m like OOOMMMGG! My friends were all about it, too! So a few days after having met her, I went with her to meet whom I was expecting to be Ryan Leslie. Y’all, why did this girl take me to meet & sing for this struggling Muslim producer/artist down Broad & Wyoming?? Far cry. . . I’m talmbout FAR CRY from Ryan Leslie! 🤬 I never spoke to her again. And some time after meeting the struggling producer, I saw him selling bean pies at the transportation center at which I met the stud. Glean whatever moral from that story you can.
