The war was driven by factors that have little to do with India. It was driven by the situation in the Middle East and the United States' priorities for a long time for overthrowing the power of Iran in the region. India is one of the countries among many others. In fact, the whole world. But even before that, the relationship of Iran in terms of energy with India and other countries was damaged. China continued to buy Iranian oil. It still does. So I think the collateral damage has been happening for years on this. The attempt has been to isolate Iran from its region where it lives. David Eby: The idea that you can simultaneously attack Canadians and also benefit from what's in Canada, which the rest of the world also wants, is an absurd one. It makes no sense. And it is reflective of this administration's entire approach to their relationship with Canada. They want to have all the benefits of a relationship with Canada, but they also want to punish Canadian workers to bully us, to tell us who we can trade with. It is the definition of an abusive relationship.

First, we are the only two countries in the world with over a billion people. Both of us have a long history, with ups and downs over time. Today, both countries are on an upward trajectory; here is the challenge, and we are also direct neighbours. The challenge is that as any country rises, its balance with the world and its neighbours changes. When two countries of this size, history, complexity, and significance rise in parallel, they inevitably interact. The key issue is how to create a stable equilibrium and transition into the next phase of balance. We want a stable relationship where our interests are respected, our sensitivities are recognized, and where it works for both of us. That is really the main challenge in our relationship. For India, the border is a critical aspect. Over the past 40 years, the assumption has been that peace and tranquillity in the border areas are essential for the relationship to grow.
