SA Rugby's Talent Oversupply Problem We estimate there are roughly 1,100 to 1,400 players capable of playing professional rugby, but only around 550 to 620 conventional professional slots available. So why is SARU fighting to kill the Mzansi Rugby League league?

@mzansirugby Power. They don't have a problem with the League but SARU wishes it would rather be them given full authority and sponsorship to run the whole thing as it has a huge potential commercial interest, meaning more revenue. I hope they find each other like PSL did with SAFA 🕯️

@mzansirugby Oh man... I looooove this chat!!!! ✊🏽❤️

@mzansirugby Hmm.... So they will create a new league?

@mzansirugby It's in court at the moment.

@mzansirugby For me I won't mind cause Currie Cup is no longer the same...

@mzansirugby All comes down to money.

@mzansirugby 2 thoughts on this. 1) i wonder if there is a labour-based argument MZ can use in court if challenged? 2) Your last line captures it perfectly. The threat is more if it succeeds than if it fails. Like Packer's cricket

@mzansirugby This is a matter of national importance and Parliament must now get involved. SARU must follow in the footsteps of CSA and SAFA to allow for controlled innovation to take place. Local rugby is slowly dying. Power or no power. National Pride must be the order of business.

@mzansirugby It won’t work. SARU is in charge. They’ll decide the deal.

@mzansirugby SARU and a lot of core rugby fans in SA, are just stuck in their archaic amatuer ways from the 1980s. This approach has already destroyed the once great Currie Cup. Springboks are single point of failure for South African rugby, it's a disaster waiting to happen.
