My thoughts & analysis on Mark Carney's speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos; "Canada has what the world wants. We are an energy superpower. We have the most educated population in the world." * It was an excellent, strong, and statesman like speech that Caandians in general should be happy and even proud of. * It was an important speech to deliver ahead of Donald Trump's speech tomorrow. This is also an attempt to create contrast in leadership and stability. The problem isn't the speech is what happens outside of it - the reality. * You can't say Canada is open for business and not deliver. * You can't tell the world we have what you want and take 20 years to navigate our own red tape. * You can't tell the world we have the best educated people in the world while having a braindrain because they have nothing to work on. The words sound nice but time and time again the government fails to deliver on them. For Canada, to become the core power player we so desperately want to be we need to be dependable and stable. We can't be infiltrated and work with foreign government that openly want to destroy the West. We can't tell our allies there is no business case when they need us. We have to be confident in the integrity and sovereignty of our nation and not surrender it to the ideologies and foreigners who come by. We need to fix and remove everything that gets in the way of what we are trying to offer to the world. Even though we are obviously upset with Donald Trump conduct we also need to remember that Canada's closest ally and our biggest economic driver will always be the US and there is nothing wrong with it (and yes we need to grow outside of it). With such, we need to have the sensibility not to run to the worst regimes around the world and surrender ourselves and this continent to them. If we want to lead, sometimes we need to lead in our relationships including with the US.

We are not okay, and that’s okay to say. I wish I could tell you that we are standing here and that the rest of the world is standing with us. With you. Sadly I can’t say that. There is a loud and aggressive minority around the world who doesn’t get, that being murdered at a peace festival does not equal resistance. I do however, know that we are standing here on behalf of all those people in the world, with moral clarity. And there are a lot of them. And there are many who want to be here with you. And they are here with you at heart. On October 7th, your loved ones went to Nova. We call it a peace music festival because that’s what it was—a place to make new friends, to let loos explore and celebrate life. And this juxtaposition hurts the most —because on that day, the light your loved ones were, was met with the most unimaginable darkness. Our lives will never be the same. But today, as we remember them, we also make a promise: to honor their memory by living as they would have. As we stand here in grief, we have a message to the world: we will not be defeated. Israel was attacked on October 7th and every day since, for the crime of existing. For the audacity of just being here. But we are here, and we are here to stay. And despite the trauma we’ve faced, we are in Israel, standing strong together, committed to the memories of those we lost and to the return of our hostages. We, despite the pain and alongside it, are going to build a brighter future. Together. We will dance again. Am Yisrael Chai Forever

END OF AN ERA 🎥 This week we say farewell to our legendary ABC Campus on the Upper West Side. It’s been the home of Eyewitness News since 1979, a building as much of an institution as our news brand itself. Broadcast legends have graced these hallowed halls for the last 6 decades, only adding to its unique and very important history. Over the last 8+ years, I’ve been the most fortunate to share the stage with some of the best in the business. It’s been the most fun I’ve had in my career. My colleagues and I have been lucky enough to create thousands of hours of television here, making memories that will last a lifetime. Now? Well, we do what we do best. Adapt. Adjust. Acclimate. We’ll do so in our new home downtown, a state-of-the-art facility that will house us and all of our fellow NYC-based shows on ABC. It’s a new chapter. A new beginning. And another wonderful story that we can’t wait to tell. So with that, we bid farewell to 7 Lincoln and say hello to 7 Hudson. A new adventure awaits. Eyewitness News

With defences crumbling, a small force of the Swiss Guard made a legendary stand, holding off the attackers just long enough for Pope Clement VII to escape to safety.
