Sachin Tendulkar shouting at his teammate?😳 Everyone talks about the 143 runs. No one talks about why he was furious. Chasing the target, VVS Laxman was taking a lazy single and didn't respond to Sachin's call. Sachin—usually the calmest man on earth—blew a fuse. He stood in the middle...

VVS took it to heart and then gave it to Ojha some years later 😂

That desert storm innings was pure magic, but yeah I remember him being properly annoyed with VVS that day 😅

Right?! 😂 VVS was just trying to survive out there, but Sachin was playing a completely different game in his head.

This innings ticks so many boxes for being the most memorable in history. 1. It's Sachin. 2. Australia are the best team in the world 3. Typical late 90s India innings, one man a class apart. 4. The TV would go off when he got out, here the TVs stayed on even in the storm as we waited. 5. No t20, above 6 an over was a task. 6. It happened in a defeat. Like his Chennai 137. You remember the guy who tried in the defeats. But it was a victory as we got to the final. He tried to win this match though 7. On his birthday he won us the tournament with another magnificent innings.

Wasn't this scolding though. It was during a ODI in India. Same opposition.Tendulkar did get run out then trying to go for a second run. Laxman was at the other end.

Tendulkar used to be full cricket for us! There used to be so much obsession that one couldn’t have imagined cricket without Tendulkar. When he retired, it was like the soul & attachment went away from the matches.. Atleast for 90s kids, i think.

Tony Graig summed up this innings in one sentence in the commentary box - “Sachin Tendulkar wants to win this match.”

VVS is a poor runner. In the Aus vs Ind series in 2001 sadgopan Ramesh in a similar way when vvs was at the other end. Absolutely right from Sachin.

The scolding though involved VVS and Aus wasn’t for this match. That was an ODI in India where Sachin was run out.

But for the sluggish runner Laxman is, that would certainly have been a run out.

Can some cricket experts give me lessons on “ Run! It’s my call” ? My understanding is that even if its other batter’s call, I should look whether a single is possible or I am at risk losing my wicket. Or should I just blindly respond ?

Every one remembers Sachin's inning but we all forgot that Sachin got India to a comfortable position but we still lost. VVS couldn't get india home. He played like a number 9 that day.

That Tournament was show of Tendulkar's class. When rest of the Indian team was praying to get qualified and playing for that target, Tendulkar was playing for win. Difference was stark between God and the rest

“For a long time, I was a guest in our house” Thierry Henry speaks from his soul. He has depth. He’s a man in touch with himself. I recall some years ago, he spoke about how much he wanted to please his father on Steven Bartlett Diary of a CEO podcast. Everything he aimed to achieve was to please the voice that rang in his head, telling him to do it better. His father stood behind him while he built a career, probably saw the good many never saw. As a father, he also mentioned how COVID-19 changed his life. It was the point he chose his family. That was probably why he said at some point, he became a guest in his house. Men become guests in their house. There was a Reminisce Alaga interview I saw. I think it was on ISaidWhatISaidPod. He said there was a point he went into his daughter(s) room and asked when they painted the wall pink. His wife told him it’s been there for two years. He said that was the point he thought it important to rest on the tours and be with his children. At that point, he probably was a guest in his house. Men’s lives are not easy. Footballers especially — elite footballers most especially are like tour musicians. They’re often on the road. You’re playing away games round the country, spending three days or more away from home when you have continental away games. Gabriel Jesus spoke about the same thing in his recent interview with The Players’ Tribune titled “A Letter to My Family and my Arsenal Family”. He said football made him distant but his ACL injury brought him closer. “I wasn’t the husband and father that I needed to be,” he said. When his wife gave birth to his daughter, he said he only held her for one day. Brazil called and he had to go. And he was a guy who grew up without a father. For his child at the time, he was there now but wasn’t there too. “I always promised myself: When I become a father, I will always be there for my kids. “When Helena was born, I was not living up to that. I was there, but I was always distracted, you know? Always catching a flight.” That’s the tough decisions men have to make sometimes. At the point of growth and ascent, life will ask questions, and difficult decisions will need to be made. Hopefully, it will be one that won’t damage the future. The future one is securing.
