ODs have gone up since their introduction (At least in Alberta). Crime in a radius from these has gone up. They've absolutely destroyed small cities downtown cores creating needless tax dollar spending. What you're forgetting with your asinine comparison, is that when people leave liquor stores and bars, they're typically going home... not rummaging people shit, stealing, leaving dirty needles in parks and playgrounds. Liquor stores and liquor sales produce tax revenue, rather than spending it. They are not the same, not even close. And only an idiot with a narrow mind would think they are.

Liquor stores, licensed bars, and pubs serve to combat contraband alcohol and ensure the collection of taxes on alcohol sales. Same for the weed now. Purely economical and nothing to do with the well being of anyone…

AA to start. I ran into therapy and got a diagnosis that helped me understand what I had to do. I followed that plan and invested in learning about my trauma, and how to like myself again. How to think differently. How to challenge old perceptions. CBT, Stoicism as a critical thought philosophy. I developed values and virtues and I stick to them ruthlessly, but know I’m human. I’m happy today and I like who I am. 💪

I bet it was really difficult for you to do that. To change the one thing that changed everything; changing you. Especially when all you knew was the darkness. But your story is an inspirational and powerful one. Thats the remedy to this madness. Stories like yours

True story. Safe supply can certainly be effective. The current programs could use some tweaks but needs healthy discussion to cultivate productive ideas. It’s not perfect and never will be. Progress not perfection.

Safe supply for hard drugs work. Deaths are down in BC because of safe supply.

Worked in this field for 15 years now. 72% of safe supply is “diverted” in Vancouver alone. Alcohol, bars, stores, all legal, and not the same as heroin, fentanyl etc. Safe supply in BC was shown to be a complete failure. I disagree but respect your opinion.
