Quentin Tarantino recounts a dinner with Robert De Niro during the making of Jackie Brown, where he asked him whether he understood when he landed the role of Vito in The Godfather Part II, that it would change his life. De Niro’s answer revealed a great deal about his mindset at the time. “I was working with Robert De Niro on Jackie brown, and we went out to dinner once. - When he got Vito in the Godfather Part II, that was going to be a big thing for him. He won the Oscar for it - it set him up to be a movie star. So I asked him - and I've asked this to quite a few actors when it comes to when they got the role that would end up changing their career - did he realize that the moment when he got the role, that it would have this sort of effect? And he goes oh, “I tried not to let it do that. I tried not to think about that” I go, "really? and why did you try not to think about that?" “Well because I’ve seen it happen and then go the other way” And then he used an example. “There was this guy, he was a young actor, and he was part of our crowd in New York. He'd been doing okay, but we were all in the same boat. Then all of a sudden he got a lead role. He's one of the two leads in a brand new movie by a director who had just done a smash hit.” And he's talking about Larry Pierce (the director) and uh... Goodbye Columbus. ”And he started dining out on it. And all of a sudden I go to the places that we used to go to, and now he's there and everyone's kind of revolving around him. He's kind of holding court. He's not doing anything bad; he's just arisen in the way that none of us have - and we're all treating him different. Then the movie comes out; nobody likes it - The movie comes out, and it goes away, and he's exactly in the same place he was. And I just wanted to make sure that that would never happen to me because I watched it happen to him.” Quote from Video Archives Podcast, sourced from James Whale Bake Sale YouTube channel. Rob Gronkowski says Tom Brady told him he would never throw him the ball again after he ran the wrong route during practice his rookie year “I didn’t really like him my rookie year. He was just getting on my case nonstop, and it was kind of mind fucking me so much that I couldn’t be myself out there sometimes. I couldn’t run the right route because I was just thinking so much. There was just so much on the plate at first. I got a coach telling me to do this, I got Tom telling me to do this, and then finally, you just figure it out and it all clicks” “It took me about halfway through my rookie year, and then obviously, going into my second year, it clicked to a whole other level. We went for 21 touchdowns total, including the playoffs. But my rookie year, he was on my case. I remember I ran a flag route, and I ran inside the guy instead of getting outside of him. He flipped out on me in the meeting after practice and told me he’s never going to throw me the ball again” “I got butt hurt and Alge Crumpler saw it too. He just tapped on my thigh. He was like, ‘Yo, Gronk, don’t worry about that. Tom’s just being Tom. Keep doing you.’ Then it kind of put a fire under my ass. That’s what Tom was so great at doing. I didn’t really realize that’s what he was doing either. He was just trying to get the best out of you, and it lit a fire under my ass” “Then I just wanted to prove Tom wrong. Like, ‘All right, I’m going to run this flag route every time now, and you’re never going to throw me the ball, but I’m going to be open by five yards, and you’re going to look like the idiot now.’ That happened, and then he threw me the ball about 600 more times from there on out”

"He was like probably my top five." "And I've masturbated to him many, many, many times growing up 'cause I was, like, I've always been a masturbator." "But I had, you know, been going through my Twitter and looking at the verified people who follow me, and I noticed that he followed me, so I was like, 'Holy shit...' And I ended up going to the DMs, and he was a really big fan, and he wanted to meet up." "And he was so cute, and we got along really, really well." "But he was really tired... He was actually really shy and nervous, and he couldn't get it up." "And so like, nothing really ended up happening, and I slept over, and like, we still had like a great time, but I never heard from him again... I still wanted to fuck him and try again, 'cause like, I really wanted to like seal it. I just didn't feel like I should be the one to reach out first, considering the situation, and he just never reached out to me again, so I just missed out on that opportunity." "He was definitely tired. But nervous too. He was one hundred percent nervous." "I think some people, it really is like a big deal, like with a porn star, because they expect us to be like really experienced and we're like worried that they have to perform to some impossible standard." "I get it, like, it doesn't bother me because it's a human body. Like, women, we're easy, we can fake it, we can use lube. Like, a guy can't fake it." "If he's not feeling well, if he's tired, if he gets like too inside of his head, then, you know, it really does happen. I'm very understanding......."

Elizabeth Olsen says her husband got down on one knee to propose and had to stand back up because the wooden dock hurt “My husband is incredibly neurotic, very uncomfortable all the time, always has something wrong with his anything, his coccyx, his pinky - but he actually has things wrong with him, but they’re always like this 1% odd thing and they have real diagnosis” “And so when we got engaged, we went to this place in Northern California in Inverness, and he was just so annoyed. There wasn’t a cheeseboard. He asked for a cheeseboard and we got there and I was like, ‘You’ve never cared this much about a cheeseboard before.’ And he was freaking out” “This place had a wood burning fireplace that was massive and he couldn’t start a fire and he was like, ‘What kind of man doesn’t know how to start a fire?’ He was just so mean to himself trying to figure out how to get this fire going. He was like, ‘It’s embarrassing if I had to ask someone to get a fire’” “And then it was 30 minutes later he proposed when we were outside, but he needed there to be a cheeseboard, fire going, in order for it to feel romantic or something” “He tried to go down on his knee, he’s going to hate me saying this, but it’s fine because he’s charming. But we were on this wood dock, so he goes down on his knee and he’s like, ‘Ow, sorry, this really hurts, back up’” “And it was just the two of us. There’s not a single photo. It was just so lovely. I loved it so much just because it was him and all of his like-”

Denzel Washington’s epic monologue towards the end of Training Day was largely improvised on set. Director Antoine Fuqua was so blown away by his performance, he says he thinks he "forgot to yell cut”. He explains… “That’s Denzel. He was just in his zone. I mean, that was one of those moment...people talk about AI. Those are the moments where you go...it's a great tool. It's gonna be a great tool, I think...but the emotion, and the moment that an actor can bring - you can't predict that. That's something that's just inside of Denzel. And when that came out, I was just like - I hope I got it. I just turned to my operator - who was shaking- I looked over at the guy - I was like, “please tell me you got that.” Because that was the take. That was it. There was no other take - I mean, how do you tell an actor like that, that that wasn't good enough? …He walked over to me, and he just had this look in his eyes. I was like, “you good?” He said, “you good?” I said, “Yeah…” Some of that was in the script, but he flipped it the way he did it. "Putting cases on all you." He kind of added some things in there. And then he just went into a whole other zone with the whole King Kong thing- with Pelican Bay - Denzel started that. That was Denzel. That was him, man. He just kind of lit up, and I think I forgot to yell cut. I was just watching it, because everybody started walking away, and I'm just watching him, and then he lights a cigarette - and he's talking - and I'm just watching him. I think at some point he probably looked at me like, you going to cut? And I'm like, “oh yeah, yeah, cut.” He was still in it. That's the thing with Denzel. He was so Alonso…I'm just watching him for a while because I didn't know what else he was going to do. It was just so magical. And then I think he looked up at me and I was like, “Okay, cut, cut.”
