There are many firefighter CB's in the PL, but very few can put out a fire before it's even started. Saliba can. That's down to IQ and exceptional positioning. Sniffing danger. If a teammate makes a mistake, Saliba will be right there to sweep up. No stat will ever show you this. Saliba is intimidating 1v1, and opponents avoid taking him on. He rarely tackles, unless it's a last ditch recovery run. And when he does, it's perfectly timed. Maldini once said: "If I have to make a tackle, then I have already made a mistake" This is Saliba.

There are dozens of examples of potentially dangerous situations that amount to nothing because of how Saliba reads the play and positions himself. It can be hard to notice. He quietly goes about his business. The best.

We really didn’t make much noise about his performances last season because we have become so much accustomed to it He is indeed a rolls Royce of A defender 1 of 1
