This cat has traveled to a good handful of countries, but I can honestly say I have never been to one where the people are so amazingly friendly, the food so yummy, and the weather so beautiful! Brazil blew away my expectations, and it was so amazing to visit the con and be a kitty south of the equator! Would you want to visit Brazil?? Meow!

🇧🇷 So iFood (which is like Brazil's UberEats or DoorDash) invited me to their staff retreat in Bahia Of course I could not spare you a video of the elaborate Brazilian buffet there 😊😊😊 Bahia is Brazil's most African state, and it's because many of the enslaved Africans arrived here first. The culture is called Afro-Brazilian So here at this buffet it's rice and beans (as always!) but also 🥘Moqueca It's a fish stew with shrimp or fish in a base of tomatoes, garlic, coriander, lime and then it is cooked in a clay pot And Moqueqa is EXTRA interesting because it literally has its origins with the 🪶indigenous of Brazil who called it mukeka, then the 🇵🇹 Portuguese arrived in Brazil and changed the recipe a bit adding onions and coriander, and finally the 🌍 Africans added palm oil and coconut milk to make it their own So if any dish can show the mix of Brazil's identity it's definitely Moqueca!

For roughly 1,000 years, people in Lofoten have preserved cod by hanging it outside in the Arctic air. No salt or smoke. Just fish, wooden racks and the right weather. Each winter, cod migrate toward the northern Norwegian coast to spawn. Fishing boats follow, and the catch is cleaned and hung to dry, becoming tørrfisk, or stockfish. The smell is hard to miss. Locals sometimes call it the smell of money, and they are not wrong. Dried cod became one of Norway’s most important exports. It was light enough to transport, durable enough for long voyages and valuable far beyond the Arctic. The red fishing cabins and steep mountains make Lofoten look almost unreal, but the drying racks keep the scenery tied to work. Villages such as Reine, Å and Nusfjord did not grow there to improve anyone’s photograph. They grew around fishing. Visit during stockfish season and the racks are full. Outside summer, the weather can close roads, the light disappears early and the sea feels much less decorative. Try the fish while you are there. It appears grilled, soaked, baked and worked into dishes that look nothing like the stiff cod hanging outside. The mountains get the attention. The fish explain why people stayed. It was in 1990 as the ball was on the Eagles’ own 5 yard line. Randall Cunningham is in Hall of Famer Bruce Smith arms in the endzone but instead of taking the safety, he ducks and launches a prayer downfield to Fred Barnett. Barnett goes up, hauls it in, and takes it to the house. That 95 yard touchdown is the second longest play in Eagles history and one of the most iconic moments this team has ever produced.
