There are plenty of people who are doing hard things only so they can escape themselves. Self-introspection will be the next hard thing to do after "This might be the last hard thing I ever do". To some, that will be hell.

Yeah, AGI may be the next and last thing humans invent. After that I guess we’ll just entertain each other. We’re all YouTubers now I guess. Just like we play chess and watch others play chess for fun, maybe we’ll also just do things and watch each other do things for fun - code, workout, financial modeling lol - already happening obv.

For most people, I don’t think this is confusing; it’s just for the top 1%. Like, go spend time with your family and friends, challenge yourself, or do whatever you feel like - I’ll cure cancer in the meantime

So, soon - instead of "science says" it will be "AI says", and the only come back will be "but this other AI said," which is one very good reason to have good AIs with different points of view.

I don't understand people being disturbed by this "philosophically"... Throughout human history, a great bunch of all societies elites were just doing nothing.
