Sam Harris making the ethically incorrect claim that our civil liberties depend on data. Our freedom does not depend on the IFR. Our freedom does not depend on whether a vaccine is sterilizing.

A high IFR virus would NOT justify tyranny.

Our civil liberties aren’t empirical, but absolute. Four videos from my Moment series on why freedom is especially FOR the perceived emergencies.

And a sterilizing vaccine would not even epidemiologically justify (much less ethically justify) firing and banishing the unvaccinated. We have forgotten why we have vaccination programs. Moment 102

We can make fun of Sam Harris, but his view is COMMON, and INTUITIVE to many, and even most, people. It must be fought against, and we must explain why it’s wrong.

I would go a step further and say it should not matter if it is sterilizing or not. If it is sterilizing, then the vaccinated should have nothing to fear from the unvaccinated no?

So IF the virus were deadly, and IF the vaccine worked, and IF the vaccine were safe THEN… What an absolute buffoon. IF all of that were true, you wouldn’t need to coerce anyone to do anything in the first place.

And all those IFs coming true still don’t justify violating bodily autonomy and informed consent en masse.
