My son and I walked 9 holes with Sam at the Boeing Classic in 2007 at the invite of his playing partner Fuzzy Zoeller. “Spirit” is the correct word. Men like Sam understand that the great game of golf is historic and bigger than any individual.

Great video Iona and what a gentleman Sam Torrance comes across as. I was lucky enough to be on the winning team of the Tag Heuer Links Challenge in 2004 on Sunningdale new course. Stunning place and great memories.

Reasons I'll never forget Game 1 of the 2026 NBA Finals: I'm in Ireland on a long-planned bucket list golf trip, so: I "had" to wake up in the middle of the night to watch the game. And I got to do so after playing Rosapenna. I've never watched a game, let alone a Finals game, in the middle of the night. And I've never played golf like that before. I almost shot a higher score than the Spurs. Never mind that, though.😂 But for real, basketball and the NBA really are international. So many people were talking about the game in Ireland today. It's cool and surreal at the same time. (Much like links golf.) Excited to do it all again with Game 2, where I plan to record my musings on the game right afterwards and discuss it with y'all.

Sam Altman on what he learned from Peter Thiel Sam reflects on Peter’s ability to come up with evocative, short statements that really stick in your brain (e.g. “We wanted flying cars, instead we got 140 characters.”): “I don’t really know anybody else who does that like he does, but he just has very interesting things to say and very interesting ways to say them. With most people you’re lucky to get one or the other, and he’s a very rare combination of both.
