Sam Torrance possesses that rare ability to make the game accessible, enjoyable, and, yes, human. Sam Torrance reminds us of golf’s heart and soul—a game played not just with skill but with spirit. A true treasure in the world of golf.

Loved Sam as a commentator. Naturally gifted orator (like thee).

This was a truly terrific insight into Tour golf of the era. He was a hero to so many of us on the Tour at that time, and a gent to play alongside. #class

My son and I walked 9 holes with Sam at the Boeing Classic in 2007 at the invite of his playing partner Fuzzy Zoeller. “Spirit” is the correct word. Men like Sam understand that the great game of golf is historic and bigger than any individual.

Nobody in the game you'd rather partner for 18 holes Friday afternoon....

I once took a group of school kids to Slaley Hall to watch the British Masters and it was torrential rain. He invited three of the kids to walk with him under his umbrella, which they couldn’t believe!

Easy on the ear too. Really missed on the commentary with the cultured Scottish accent.

I love these interviews. Getting to hear the things that make me play and watch golf, rather than the continued noise of PGA / LIV that distracts from what's important. Keep them coming, Iona.

Great video Iona and what a gentleman Sam Torrance comes across as. I was lucky enough to be on the winning team of the Tag Heuer Links Challenge in 2004 on Sunningdale new course. Stunning place and great memories.
