Sam3 + Body is freaking amazing. I'm in the process of building an open-source Rerun and Gradio demo that is similar to what Meta provided. Got the basic functionality up and running, now I need to hook it up to a Gradio interface. It's a really good model

I've been working a lot with SAM3 and the Momentum Human Rig (MHR). I finally integrated it into the data I'm working with Rerun. The progression I've taken looks as follows SAM3 + SAM3D-body on 1. a single image 2. a set of multiple images 3. a single video 4. A multiview video capture I took inspiration from the SAM3D-body paper and built a multiview fitting optimization pipeline. This pipeline involves using the 2D keypoints from the single-view pipeline, triangulating them, and employing an L1 loss between the 2D/3D keypoints. The temporal stability isn't great, so that's the next portion I'm going to focus on. One really frustrating thing about SAM3D-body is the lack of per-joint confidence values. It makes it harder to deal with occlusions. I'm probably going to need to use a separate model, or maybe add a confidence head.

This is running in my web browser on my laptop. It's deterministic and running using webgpu Tonight; I have a /goal going where it is going to set up one of my 4090s as the authority server, and then test all the rollback code. Goal is 50k boxes simmed per user, up to 512 users. Massively multiplayer massively rigid body physics online games inside your web browser. Why the hell not, we've got the tokens to spare!

✨ Grok Imagine Video is now live on Photo AI It's hard to explain how impressive this is because of the speed that xAI got itself from literally nothing to the top of the leaderboards Six months ago Grok's video model was a joke, it wasn't even close to any of the video models out there, it looked cartoony and wasn't there and nobody took it seriously Now it's here and it's instantly the #1 video model out there now, it shot above Kling (which I used before on Photo AI and usually my favorite) and above Runway Gen 4.5 which was just launched 6 days ago! Mmore importantly it's now above xAI's biggest competitors' models: Google's Veo 3 and OpenAI's Sora 2 Being the best video model doesn't mean it's flawless: video is incredibly hard and actually because it looks so realistic now when it does make a mistakes it's even funnier One thing I noticed is that it still has a hard time with is voice, it does it well for a majority of the video but then slips up and produces unintelligible blabbering (which is really funny to hear) in both English (video 1: "it's where I find my naim", what's a "naim"?), and tested it in Portuguese too (video 3 at the end is unintelligible Portuguese I believe) In many ways Grok Imagine Video also reminds me of Sora, it has that weird but funny Sora conversation style But guys it's REALLY really really really close to getting perfect, we're so close to having full video productions being to be able done in AI, actually you already can if you just cut out the bad parts already Very exciting and I'm grateful I can experience this

Bad news: my computer is dying and I need help to replace it so I can keep creating the content you love. The thermal interface is failing, which is causing overheating and throttling in the form of random freezes and crashes that are making it increasingly difficult to do basic tasks, let alone things like video editing (see video). I was hoping to replace the computer in a few months, but the problem is so bad now it's impacting my ability to make a living.
