JUST IN- The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Chairman Wontumi, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after being found guilty on all charges in the Samreboi case. In addition to the prison term, the court imposed a fine of 10,000 penalty units. If he fails to pay the fine, he will serve an extra three years in prison.

PRISONER SAVAGELY ATTACKED GUARD FROM BEHIND IN HMP FIVE WELLS A violent prisoner has been handed an extended sentence after launching an unprovoked attack on a prison custody officer at HMP Five Wells. Zakariya Mahamed, 28, was caught on CCTV following the officer across a prison wing before suddenly attacking him, repeatedly striking him around the head and neck. The officer, who is in his 30s, suffered significant injuries and required medical treatment. Mahamed was found guilty of Section 18 wounding with intent following a six-day trial at Northampton Crown Court. He was cleared of the more serious charge of attempted murder. The court nevertheless deemed Mahamed dangerous enough to receive an extended sentence of six years and six months in prison, followed by a further two years and six months on licence. Mahamed was already serving a five-year-and-three-month sentence for robbery after threatening a victim with a knife and demanding money. He was due to be released in March 2026 but remained behind bars awaiting trial for the prison attack.

This judge is not having it! Judge Michael Cicconetti didn’t play games. Known for his "creative justice," he was never afraid to speak his mind when a defendant showed zero remorse. In this video, Demetrius "D-Meech" Smith tried to brush off domestic violence charges involving a child, claiming he just "had bigger things going on." The judge wasn't having it. This man did not learn from this. As of April 2026, Demetrius "D-Meech" Smith is currently under supervised release (parole/probation) following a prison sentence for separate felony charges in Ohio. While the domestic violence case in the viral video resulted in three years of probation back in 2017, his legal troubles escalated significantly afterward: Felony Conviction: Smith was later convicted in Cuyahoga County on more serious charges (Docket CR18629042), including second-degree felony offenses. Prison Sentence: He served a multi-year sentence in the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction system. Current Status: He was released from prison and began a period of active supervision on April 15, 2025. Three men have been jailed for a total of over 28 years between them for supplying cocaine across Bolton and Bury. Kieron Leonard of Blackrod, was sentenced to 14 years and three months after he was convicted of being concerned in the supply of cocaine. Rhys Shaw of Bury, was sentenced to seven years and six months after he was convicted of being concerned in the supply of cocaine. Mark Cosgrave of Bury, was sentenced to six years and nine months after he was also convicted of being concerned in the supply of cocaine.
