Samsung's SPH-N270 Matrix phone, released in 2003.

the nokia in the first film couldn't actually do that. the spring slide was a prop mod - they gutted the phones to fit the mechanism in. samsung shipped a working version of a feature that had only ever existed on set.

I was alive enough and young enough ANND I never saw this 🤔

This thing is wild. They actually shipped a working version of that sliding Matrix phone in 2003 instead of just leaving it as a movie prop. The green keypad and Reloaded box make it even better.

Does it still work?

These were so fire back then.

game changer

Samsung really went full futuristic with this one. The SPH-N270 Matrix phone looked like it came straight out of the movie and somehow still feels ahead of its time.

Holy cow I want one!

I remember this phone. I knew no one with one

I remember seeing these in stores as a kid and thought it was a Power Ranger morpher

Huh, I guess the side rails on the red hydrogen might’ve got inspiration from the Matrix phone
