Let’s talk about it

I agree with the ceiling thing but I have been playing AM disc golf for 15 years and I have never seen someone purposely tank their round (at least I think). I've seen people get dejected and maybe "care less" or take less time or whatever

Defo seen a guy in the $1 league have a bad day and start playing a putter only round. Was he sandbagging? I don’t know. It’s easy to do in a $1 league if you want to.

When Austin Turner was a teenager he would whoop up on the intermediate group in Charlotte. He got hit with the bagger title and moved up the rank. I got whooped by a few future pros lol

Very well explained. Although I don’t think I have ever played with a player who intentionally tanked their round to get a lower rating to be able to play in a lower division. I’d like to believe if you’re playing a rated round every hole you are shooting for the best

I like the top 30% idea for ratings, but it might also need to be time dependent (after a couple years events should drop from your ratings still) Other idea: Am divisions should be eq. split based on the ratings of the people in the tournament and not leave it as a choice

I do like the idea of using your top 30% of your rated rounds to determine your division if it is a standard that is adopted across the board. But, if no one else decides to do it, then you are handicapping yourself essentially.

Most of the rating protection run across is people trying to boost their ratings higher then they should be by claiming fake reasons to withdraw, or by signing up with buddies in a flex start that will not apply the rules the same as would be done in a bigger tourney.
