The biggest mistake in consumer crypto is building for crypto. se argues the real addressable market isn't the small group of daily onchain users, it's mainstream consumers who shouldn't have to think about crypto at all. Crypto works best when it's infrastructure, not the product.

Your opinion that crypto is used for crime came from analysts who discover patterns in data. You only know that terrorists use it because industry professionals have told you they do, because it is traceable. ~5% of the world's GDP is laundered yearly in fiat but you have a problem with the technology, strangely enough, you had no idea that illicit activity can be collected in real-time & centralized exchanges have logs. If your sticking point is that people trade crypto with fiat off chain, arguably fiat/old banking is still the issue.
