I think everyone was very cynical when Daniel Craig was announced and Casino Royale was the biggest wake-up call for fans regarding lists like this. Let’s hope he’s in for a much smoother welcome, if true.

Jack Lowden is the most qualified man on this list & I would love for him to be anointed James Bond if Jack O’Connell doesn’t get it. You guys know that I started Slow Horses back in the Spring of 2025 after so many of you insisted I give it a shot. You guys were right. Slow Horses introduced me to Jack Lowden & River Cartwright, which I’m incredibly grateful for on so many levels. Lowden has learned from the best - he’s learned from Gary Oldman, who is quite literally one of the best actors alive. Lowden is also not so overwhelmingly famous where he’s still a bit of a mystery. He would be an excellent 007.

Regardless of whether Jack Lowden becomes James Bond or not, I think he leaves this entire process as the biggest winner. It pleases me that Lowden is receiving heighten notoriety right now because I firmly believe Lowden should already be a quasi-household name based on his performance as River Cartwright across six seasons on Slow Horses. Lowden has clearly learned a lot from Oscar-winner Gary Oldman throughout the course of shooting this show. He’s a tremendous actor. Whether he’s anointed 007 or not, this entire campaign will elevate his profile.
