.💫 SARA LANDRY 💫 has a valid point 🧐

@saralandrydj If you totally change your signature sound, because ‚your taste in music‘ has changed, you will probably have to live with it, that people who loved you for the sound will no longer love your music. And for sure your Music marketing is telling you are doing great.

@saralandrydj Don’t listen to the haters. Just be you like you’ve always been and you’ll be great! @saralandrydj

I have opinions. But first, can we advocate for more of this heart-to-heart, first person conversational posts from artists! I absolutely love this post Sara. I realize you're asking a rhetorical question. And to be fair, I'm not on TikTok, so I probably wouldn't have seen it if it wasn't for We Rave You sharing it. But I love how you give background to why you like specific sounds and styles. That resonates. That being said, I've spent the last 15 years photographing DJs and festivals and this type of complaining has probably been the only thing consistent in dance music over those years - except for maybe Carl Cox and Tiesto. I think it's important to note that "online," or more specifically "social media," isn't real life. I spend a good bit of time looking at social media metrics for my day job. But those metrics are there to tell a larger story. They absolutely shouldn't be there to judge your success or overall fan sentiment. In fact, comments or complaining from fans is probably the least important metric to look at when it comes to these platforms. Is your brand growing? Is your fanbase growing? Are your revenues (DJ rates) going up? I'm not a huge fan of hard techno. I love tribal and afro house. But I see you everywhere now and I see you absolutely crushing it. You're playing music you love and it shows in your sets. And that passion and love is clearly resonating with a growing fanbase. As a wise person once said, "fuck the haters!" I'm not sure why I decided to go on this little rant. But thanks for sharing your thoughts! Hope I get to photograph one of your sets in the near future.

@saralandrydj @saralandrydj you have to do what feels right to you and the MAJORITY of fans want. Haters always gonna hate, keep evolving, keep em talking keep on killin it.

@saralandrydj They want you to see the complaining and comment on it for attention. Mission accomplished I guess.

@saralandrydj Ahh the struggle of being a dj and people coming to see a “show”

@saralandrydj I love Sara and think a lot of the items she brought up are just the unfortunate result of blowing up from TikTok nowadays. The TikTok success for artists means your crowd is now filled with a bunch of casuals who are probably the ones doing most of the complaining.

@saralandrydj Everyones opinion is public now, thats the only difference miss! Keep doing you and ignore opinions. Only one that matters is that crowd reaction 💯

@saralandrydj Eventually you learn to ignore the built in hate. Hang in there

@saralandrydj @RealDiscoDonnie we want subwoofers, and that triple HD sound system in Silo damn that thing is sharp so clear

@saralandrydj That is what they want but stop listening to haters and listen to those who support you and your music evolving. Do you, @saralandrydj because it’s enough

@saralandrydj Stop complaining about complaining

@saralandrydj No one gives a fuck lol shut up and play music slut

@saralandrydj @saralandrydj There is no cure for envy and you can't please them all.Especially in edm and niche rock scenes the word "commercial"(doing well) has a bad taste, but it is nothing but a measure for the amount of people willing to spend time and means for the experience.Just do you

@saralandrydj So if crowds complain but you get positive feedback from booking agency and stage managers, you clearly are not trying to please the crowd. Of course you are surrounded by yes-men. They profit of you. Try to find someone who loves you and you respect back for honest opinions.

@saralandrydj Trying to avoid criticism is like trying to avoid bad weather. You might be able to escape it for a while, but in the end someone will always find shade. It’s about not letting it get to you, which is a lot easier said than done unfortunately

@saralandrydj Sarah, at the end of the day, people will either grow with you or fall away. As your taste in music evolves, so does theirs. Just be grateful you have a dream job, and appreciate those who continue to grow alongside you. I wish I had a chance to live your life just for one week!

@saralandrydj Recommendation: Delete social media and tune it out but you can’t be an artist in 2025 without social media. Just a double edge sword however you look at the this issue.

@saralandrydj That’s funny cuz she’s always complaining also lmao

@saralandrydj You cant please everyone

@saralandrydj People always complain. Just be yourself and follow your own passion. Fans will come and go

@saralandrydj As long as it’s not Dubstep, I’m ok with it.

@saralandrydj No that’s not it, there is sooooo much hype behind certain artists, landry, gordo, keinemusic are perfect examples. When you go and see these artists and the mix isnt good. People notice that shit. The people that dont are usually just to fucked up to care.

@saralandrydj Why did I think you were British? 🤷♂️

@saralandrydj You not an artist . Bringing drama into being a dj . How sad and pathetic

@saralandrydj @saralandrydj here's the secret about complainers: people remember the great times you gave them in a particular set on a particular day. That stays with them and next time they see you, they expect the same, even if its months or years later. They haven't evolved but you have!

Sharing creativity with the world has its benefits and disadvantages. When art becomes a service it strips away the root of creativity. Stay true to your heart! It’s usually uncreative people who don’t have guts to understand your position that nit pick. Art is subjective and the artist must express! Stay true I say.

@saralandrydj Imo a big element of this comes down to education. Most fans are just unfamiliar with the creative flow and take in sets almost like a fact because theres no other option theyre aware of. Lots of artists can even be like this cuz they didnt peruse artistry over technical skill

@saralandrydj less cringe and more music

@saralandrydj So much of social media is dependent on rage bait that it seems to have spilled into commenters. It takes empathy and insight to offer constructive criticism and positive support for artists who take risks 🙏

@saralandrydj All I see here is someone who cares more for the shit she receives than caring about what really matters! Just do what you do, evolve how you see and be happy! It’s important to remember you cannot please everyone so stop trying!

@saralandrydj Perhaps 🤔 or are the complainers a ventriloquated result of a now-haute-couture industry that eats itself? Respect to the grift, play a free pop up gig in a Milton Keynes car park & test the difference? Sending love ❤️

@saralandrydj That’s all this new gen does is complain. No work ethic, no understanding of hard work, no discipline, nothing but complaints
