First mention of Saree was found in Mahabharata in 400 BC, when Lord Krishna protected “Draupadi” by blessing her with a saree that did not end. The 1st century AD saw the Sari in its earliest form and the records are found in the sculptures from that period. #history #India

The word ‘saree’ is derived from Sanskrit word 'sati', which means “a strip of cloth”. The origin of this word is from the Prakrit (Language spoken in the Buddhist era) word ‘sattika’. This progressed into the Prakrit 'sadi' and was later anglicised into 'saree'. #Sanatani
