We don't even have access to EGNOS anymore for precision navigation - whilst we wait for these great innovative solutions, can the UK DfT / government just pay the £30m or so for now and we can all regain access again to the Galileo GNSS constellation for precision approaches?!

‼️‼️🇺🇸 #BREAKING - NOAA has observed a powerful Solar Storm, the likes of which haven’t been seen since 2003. this storm could potentially bring the Northern Lights into view in the souther U.S. the Coronal Mass Ejection, first viewed yesterday, is expected to hit Earth within the next 24 hours, according to the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center and the UK’s Met office. the storm could impact power systems, spacecraft operations, radio frequencies and satellite navigation. these kinds of storms are ranked on a scale of 1-5, with this one being ranked a G4. this means that voltage corrections on a plethora of power systems will be required, as well as impacting Satellite Navigation. Here are my key filters when evaluating the near-term, commercial potential of an eVTOL: - Needs to be piloted - Needs to be able to handle VTOL & CTOL in ordinary day-to-day operations to maximize functional flexibility, efficiency and increase safety - Needs to be ~6,000 lbs to handle four passengers - Needs to use battery cells that have a proven safe architecture, demonstrated reliability, decades of volume manufacturing and are sourced from a trusted manufacturer Delivering an aircraft that hits on all of those is our core focus. With our prior Midnight aircraft we completed the full VTOL envelope. Now we're working through the CTOL envelope with the new aircraft to ensure Midnight can reliably, efficiently and safely operate in and out of both traditional runways and vertical take off and landing locations.

DEADLY AIRCRAFT ICE!! This can take down an aircraft faster than you think, unless the aircraft is properly equipped. Visible moisture (clouds) + freezing temperature = ice. Especially in tops of cumulus clouds, even in the hot summer months. For us pilots I’m canada, winter, spring and fall offer lots of icy IFR flying to contend with. If your aircraft isn’t certified for flight in icing conditions, cancel the flight, and fly another day 🫡👨‍✈️👩‍✈️✈️ 📸 by ig/evan_lufty
