🌼There is an old proverb that says a great society is built when people plant trees whose shade they will never sit in. It always brings to mind places like this abandoned home, where daffodils still rise each spring, even though the house has stood empty for many years. The bulbs keep their faithful rhythm, returning season after season and washing the old homesite in bright yellow, a gift to us from Mrs. Dowd, who planted them here long ago. It is a simple but powerful kind of legacy, to leave a place more beautiful than you found it. I think we could all learn something from Mrs. Dowd.

Facial reconstructions of the Hasanlu Lovers The people of Iron Age Hasanlu were genetically a mixture of Zagrosians, Upper Mesopotamians, and Proto-Armenics. Hasanlu is an archaeological site of an ancient city located in northwest Iran, in the province of West Azerbaijan, just south of Lake Urmia. The settlement was likely associated with the Mannaeans, a Hurro-Urartian people with a possible Indo-European substrate related to the Armenic branch. The site is most famous for its catastrophic destruction. At the end of the 9th century BC, Hasanlu was violently sacked and burned, preserving a single moment in time, much like Pompeii. Buildings, artifacts, and even human remains were sealed beneath layers of ash and collapsed debris. The attackers were most likely the Urartians. Excavations uncovered the remains of more than 285 people, many of them slain in battle or executed afterward. Several bodies showed signs of mutilation, while the positioning of others revealed desperate attempts to escape. Among the thousands of objects discovered in situ were weapons, ornaments, and household items, all abandoned in the chaos. This destruction layer, known as Hasanlu IVb, stands as one of the most important archaeological contexts of the early Iron Age Near East. Following the devastation, the city’s High Mound was repurposed as the site of a Urartian fortress. One of the most poignant discoveries is the burial of two individuals known as the “Hasanlu Lovers.” The two men - one around 20 years old, the other about 32 - died side by side in a collapsed structure. Both perished of asphyxiation as the building filled with smoke and ash during the conflagration. They were found lying close together, their arms entwined and their faces turned toward one another in their final moments.

Recently, I was honoured to officially commission Segun Awolowo Street in Ejigbo, a project that represents my commitment to delivering real dividends of democracy to the people of Oshodi/Isolo Constituency II irrespective of party, religion or tribal affliation. In Nov 2025, I donated and commissioned a 300KVA transformer for residents of same street to address their long-standing electricity challenges. During that visit, community leaders appealed for the tarring of their road, and I assured them I would do everything within my capacity to make it happen. I am proud to have fulfilled that promise. For years, the residents of Segun Awolowo Street yearned for basic infrastructure and development. During my campaign, I listened to their concerns and made a commitment to be a representative who delivers tangible results, not empty promises. Beyond commissioning the newly tarred road, I also empowered women in the community with sewing machines and grinding machines to support household income and small businesses. I deeply appreciate the presence and support of respected leaders and stakeholders who joined us for this event, including Alhaji Abdul Razaq Adebisi Jegede, Chief John Uche, Mrs. Adeola, Alhaji Toriola, Bishop Remigus Agu, and many others. Seeing the joy on the faces of residents reminds me why service matters. How many more children before we admit the experiment failed? This time it’s two Iraqi brothers, 18 and 20, on trial in Essen, Germany, for allegedly raping a 7 year old girl on two separate occasions. She was the friend of their younger sister who lived right next door. Another horror story in a continent-wide pattern. Across Europe, men from certain immigrant backgrounds, especially Middle East, North Africa, and parts of Africa, are wildly overrepresented in rape and child sexual abuse statistics. In Germany, foreigners are 15% of the population but 38% of rape suspects. In Sweden, immigrant men dominate rape convictions in long term studies, even after adjusting for age and socioeconomic factors. Those arriving as teens or adults bring the highest risk. In the UK, foreign citizens are 3.5x more likely to be arrested for sexual offences. The Pakistani muslim grooming gang scandal is still unraveling. Europe didn’t have an epidemic of 7 year olds being raped by their neighbors’ older brothers before the mass low-skilled migration experiment. It imported the problem along with the people. Cultures that treat non-muslim girls as fair game, or that normalize early sexualization and weak boundaries around children, don’t magically become Swedish, German, or British just because they cross a border. This is what happens when you prioritize volume over compatibility and then gaslight the public about the results. The trial continues. The pattern continues. The denial continues.

I simply want to remind people that I serve in the Marines of the 37th Brigade in Ukraine. I enlisted for freedom, for honor, and for love. It has been my dream since I was six years old. Today, many men are fighting on the front line. Some are Ukrainians, others are volunteers from different countries. Coming here to fight is not about ego. It is not about recognition, medals, diplomas, or thanks. True commitment means being able to stay in the shadows, in the middle of hell and in the worst moments. It means being ready to sacrifice your life for something greater than yourself. I have almost died so many times that I have stopped counting. But I am never alone. By my side are my brothers in arms. Today we work more than twenty hours a day. We repair drones, we fly them, we hold our positions, and we simply protect the sky to save lives. That is what matters most. That is the greatest honor. Here, nobody measures who has the best status, the best diplomas, or the most medals. All of that is just material things. When you stand face to face with death and survival is all that matters, only one thing remains: the brothers standing beside you. And maybe that is the greatest gift of my life — finding a true family. A family united by a common purpose: working together for victory.

The 35-year-old man, who was arrested for raping a seven-year-old girl and inserting iron in her private parts, was booked for attempted murder after he attacked cops with a sickle and tried to escape on Wednesday night. The police fired in self-defense and two bullets hit the accused #Ramsingh's leg in the village of #Jasdan taluka where they had taken him for recovery of the rod. After recovering the rod from his field, the cops reached Ramsingh's house where he suddenly picked up a sickle and launched the attack which left Dharmesh Bavaliya, head constable with the Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Rajkot Rural police, injured. HC Gohil and KM Chavda, both police sub-inspectors, fired from their service revolvers to prevent him from fleeing. Bavaliya suffered injuries in the chest and arm. The police control room was informed and both were first taken to KD. Parvadia Hospital in #Atkot for treatment and later shifted to the civil hospital in #Rajkot city late at night. Rajkot Rural superintendent of police (SP) Vijaysinh Gurjar had told reporters that the accused committed the sexual assault in about 10 minutes. He was familiar with the girl and her family, knowing that they were originally from #Dahod and had come here to work as farm labourers, Gurjar said. Police said the girl cried out during the assault, which agitated the accused, who then inserted the rod in her. Ramsingh is on police remand until December 15 in this rape case. In line with this vision, I recently organized a football competition for the youth across Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II as part of my continuous commitment to youth engagement, talent discovery, and community development. I was delighted to witness active participation from youths across Ishaga, Ilasamaja, Ajao Estate, Okota, Isolo, Palace Boys, Ejigbo, Oke-Afa, and Ire-Akari, all coming together to compete, connect, and celebrate the power of sports. Football remains a powerful tool for social inclusion and positive engagement. It teaches teamwork, resilience, leadership, discipline, dedication, and mutual respect. Through this competition, our youth had the opportunity to showcase their talents, build friendships across communities, and channel their energy into something productive and inspiring. To ensure this initiative goes beyond recreation, professional scouts were present throughout the tournament to identify exceptional talents. I am pleased to share that selected outstanding players have been penned down for sponsorship opportunities to Spain, where they will be exposed to greater football development opportunities and international experience. The atmosphere throughout the tournament was electrifying, with impressive displays of skill, passion, determination, and competitive excellence. Watching these young talents come alive on the field further reinforces my belief that the future of our constituency is bright when we deliberately invest in our next generation. My commitment to the people of Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II remains unwavering.
