Turkey and Pakistan have been sleeping in the same bed with the Iranian regime for decades. 🕋 The Mecca Defense Agreement has been in the making for roughly two years, but it was accelerated by regional upheaval and growing Saudi disappointment with Washington as the ultimate guarantor of Gulf security. Riyadh is increasingly seeking greater strategic autonomy rather than relying on a single external protector. 🌎 Saudi Arabia needs deterrent capabilities of its own.
