VIDEO | Delhi: Reacting to the use of derogatory remarks by CJP protesters, party spokesperson Saurav Das says, "If any language used was derogatory in nature, then the person concerned is free to pursue civil and criminal defamation proceedings against the individual concerned. However, the use of the criminal justice machinery against protesters is highly condemnable, and no one should be punished merely for using objectionable language. Montreal, October 7th. A McGill student with an Israeli flag was chased by police on horses, then threatened with arrest for obstruction if he refused to leave the campus. For his "safety." Shortly after this, a group of students holding Israeli flags were told they had to leave the McGill campus, or they would be arrested for obstruction. For their "safety." McGill security would not comment on whether or not McGill has an official policy to remove students with Israeli flags. The SPVM would not comment, nor would they direct me to a police liaison to clarify why these students were being targeted. Speaking in the WH debate earlier this week on the prosecution of Northern Ireland veterans: the Govt cannot proceed unless they are able categorically to clarify that legislation will protect veterans from the vexatious pursuit that has been so much in their minds and worries throughout this period. If we cannot give them that—if the Govt cannot legislate for that—then there is no purpose in getting rid of the existing Act. The Govt may not like it, but they must face this reality: there cannot be pursuit of veterans if previous inquiries have cleared them of whatever the charge was before. This repeat process that has been taking place, on absolutely no evidence whatever, is what has caused all the worry for our veterans. If we care about our veterans, we should not rush to change the existing legislation until we can confirm protection for these brave men and women who served their country so loyally, on behalf of civilians in Northern Ireland. If we cannot find a solution, it is ours and the Govt’s duty not to tamper with what exists, for fear of destroying the one protection we have given those veterans.

#WATCH | Chandigarh | Jaswinder Kaur Bath, wife of Colonel Pushpinder Singh Bath, who was allegedly assaulted by Punjab Police personnel in Patiala, says, "We went to meet DGP Gaurav Yadav, but he was busy. We waited for one and a half hours, but then he left without meeting us. He is an army officer's son, but he still did so... I am raising my voice just because my son said that he would not stay in this country as it is not worth staying. I had to prove to him that justice would be given... Then, we went to meet the governor, and he had tears in his eyes when I spoke to him and when I showed him the pictures and the brutality. He called the DGP and told him that FIR is my right with all the names and to please do what is needed. The governor then told us that if the FIR is not registered, we should get back to him. I want to thank the governor for standing up with us. I came to know through the media that SSP Nanak Singh had said that a magisterial inquiry had been set up, but the FIR could not be changed... Today, when everyone was standing up with me, all the politicians started calling me, but I didn't pick up a single call as this was not a political fight. They cannot say that we were under the influence of alcohol as it is there in the (medical) report of a government hospital... A police inspector told me that we cannot add the names of some police personnel in the FIR as they have been awarded as encounter specialists by the DIG and are about to be promoted. So we walked past the US Embassy with our press gear to cover the protest against the illegal kidnapping of Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores. We were stopped by Kenyan soldiers who took photos of our IDs and also took a photo of my face. I asked why they were taking a picture of my face and he said, “For memory.” About 100 yards further down the road, we were stopped again. This time our IDs were photographed again and our names were written down, but by private security from G4S. I asked them what they planned to do with the pictures. They said they would hand them to the US Embassy. I asked, “Why, in a sovereign country on a public sidewalk, are you taking photos of our IDs and handing them to a foreign government?” He said he didn’t want to argue, then left us with a warning that the protest would be dangerous and that we should be careful, because security could not protect media freedoms today.

Today in Washington, DC, Capitol Police threatened to arrest me after “Anti-Fascist” protesters conspired to obstruct my movement on public property at Union Square in Washington, D.C. While attempting to cover the “We Are America March,” several organizers with walkie-talkies and earpieces followed me around the streets of D.C. and at the event. I asked multiple times to be left alone, but the organizers escalated the situation. One man planted his feet and stuck his shoulder out, trying to push me away from the group. Shockingly, the Capitol Police came over, accused me of pushing them, and threatened to arrest me for disorderly conduct. They claimed the protesters had a permit for the public space and could kick me out if they pleased. The problem? That was a blatant lie. The protesters did not have the right to kick me off public property, which is why the officers were threatening me with arrest. Do you think the Capitol Police were unfair here? If so, what should they have done differently?

I hope this message reaches Abhijeet Dipke and Saurav Das And everyone who is supporting the Jantar Mantar Protest. I was there at the protest, on 21st July it was good, actually very good. There were good sloganeering, everyone was helping each other, it was fun, there was enthusiasm of standing for the right thing and as a woman i didn’t feel unsafe even for a second even though it was much crowded. But on 22nd and 23rd July, it was totally different. More and more fringe elements in the crowd, they were indulging in instigating violence and abusive sloganeering; which is not acceptable. We are here to protest peacefully for the right causes, not create nuisance and induce horror. It also felt very very unsafe. Yes we know they are not real protesters and most likely (99% of) these fringe elements are planted/infiltrated by the regime/rss/hindutva. 1% chance of them being velle youngsters that came here for entertainment such as this (find the videos attached). And you GOTTA LOOK INTO THIS MAN! You gotta find solution(s) to end this nuisance if the protest is to continue. This is just giving it a bad name and keeping people from joining the protest again. Sharing another incident under this post where this crowd even assaulted a man for allegedly chanting “har har modi”. And i can guarantee these are not the real protesters. Someone look into this please!
