I belong to sc community too from Assam. Never used it. Na mere papa ne na maine. Hum thik thak chal rahe hain. Business karte he zaroorat mehsoos bhi nahi hui aur Assam main caste based discrimination hai bhi nahi just proud Hindu.

No reservation in any category whatsoever is the way to go. Provide assistance, fee waiver to anyone of your liking but selection should be only on merit. Help them with resources to compete in the exam but don't give them seat even if they did not perform in the exam.

Same happened when I went for counseling in DSEU. I got seat because I got good marks and was a girl(general). Then saw SC/ST didn't attend even counselling whereas general boys were sitting from morning and empty stomach still didn't get any seat.

If you really want to provide reservations, do it through assistance and financial support—such as coaching, books, and library access—or whatever else they need for their studies. However, to qualify, they should be required to score the same marks as any other student.
