Arkansas 6’3 Freshman Darius Acuff has had an extremely impressive start to his season. Through his first four games he’s averaging 20/3/5 while shooting 50% from the field and 42% from three on 6 attempts a game. Acuff has been one of the early best freshmen and draft prospects in college basketball this season, with his ability to score and playmake. Acuff has scored the ball on all 3 levels at an elite level, shooting 63% at the rim, 46% from the mid range and 42% from three all on high usage. He’s an advanced PNR operator and has been one of the best transition players in the country as well. Acuff’s craft as a creator for himself and his teammates is extremely impressive for his age. Acuff’s mix of 3 level scoring, playmaking , and pace for his age makes him one of the most talented players in this years draft and he’s made a strong case in being a potential top 10 pick.

We’ve all seen the clips highlighting Darius Acuff’s defensive issues and it would be disingenuous to hand wave them. Still, I don’t think Acuff is a lost cause. I won’t argue that Acuff has been good nor would I project him to be good at the next level as being “good” at something requires consistency in both effort and ability and he hasn’t shown consistent effort on that side of the ball. I think part of it may be an effort to not pick up fouls, but that also shouldn’t excuse the inconsistency. The ability on the other hand is something I believe he does possess and the core issue is how often he is willing to lock in, sit down, and guard. Getting him to buy into that part will be up to his next team. All that to say…here is four minutes of Darius Acuff locking in and guarding.

Roswell quarterback Trey Smith (@_treysmith1) was seen putting his crown on the head of senior Jake Jeffries. Jeffries never missed a football game in the four years he has been at the school and now helps the team by filling up water bottles for the players. God bless them both.

While being one of the best 6th men in all of college basketball. Smiley’s mix of shooting, pace, craft, passing, decision making, and finishing for his age is something that you don’t see often and he has a high ceiling. no one who watched Quinn Ewers play high school football here in Texas, ride the bench at Ohio State, and transfer to Texas where half his fanbase despised him (and still led his team almost the entire way) is surprised by his choice to enter the NFL draft. QE3 has, and has had since he was a kid at Southlake Carroll high school, the belief that he is destined for big things. Raise your kids with the same belief. Don’t encourage them to chase a bag because at the end of the day, a bag isn’t a legacy.
