Scammers Are Targeting High-Value Shipments With Your Identity : Exclusive Report According to sources familiar with operations inside UPS, FedEx and other shipping companies, a new and highly organized package theft scam appears to be targeting high-value shipments, particularly Apple iPhones, Apple Watches and other expensive electronics. The scam... is reportedly happening at assigned UPS and FedEx drop-off and pickup locations. Here’s how the scam allegedly works: Someone on the inside of a shipping company allegedly provides the scammers with the tracking number, name and address of the victim. The scammers are then able to track the shipment and determine when and where the package will be available for pickup. The crews allegedly already have a fake New York driver's license or New York State ID made using the victim's name. Once the package arrives at the assigned drop-off and pickup location, the scammer walks in, presents the fake identification and attempts to leave with the victim's package. In one reported incident, an employee at one of these locations wasn't satisfied with the identification and told the scammer that they wanted to see another form of identification. The scammer reportedly left and returned less than 15 minutes later with a utility bill that appeared authentic and contained the victim's name and address. Imagine being able to produce another piece of documentation using someone's personal information in less than 15 minutes. According to the sources, this type of theft has been increasing throughout the five boroughs of New York City and appears to be extremely organized. If the information about insiders providing tracking information and victims' personal details is accurate, this goes far beyond someone simply stealing a package. It could involve people with access to shipping information working with organized crews on the outside, who then use fraudulent identification and other documents to intercept high-value shipments. The number of scammers in Italy is absolutely insane, and they become aggressive if you refuse to fall for their scams. It was one of the major downsides of staying in Italy; you couldn't even sit and have a coffee in peace without Gypsies and Africans trying to scam money out of you with their knockoff trinkets. One scammer tried to target this guy, and when he realised he was being recorded, he went to two female police officers who sided with the scammer and told the tourist to delete the footage.

A woman and her husband went to the store to get an Apple gift card for $100. After they got it, they had tried to use it for their iPhone. The opened the package and got the card out, the last few digits on the back of the card are missing and she couldn’t use it. She goes back to the store and speaks to customer service about a refund. Customer service claims they can’t do anything about it because there are no refunds on gift cards and they need to call the company the card is for. She then pulls a few of the same cards off of the display and opens them in front of customer service and proves to them that they all have the same issue. This does look like the card was manufactured defectively and the customer service rep acknowledged it, but why are they leaving it on the shelf for other people to buy it and be ripped off?

Latest in scams is the FedEx drugs scam! The caller poses to be a representative of Fedex International and informs you that an International shipment under your name is stuck at Mumbai/Delhi customs. He then transfers your call to a fake Customs Officer who claims that narcotics have been caught in a package marked under your name and now you'll have to come to Mumbai/Delhi or we'll send a Police team to pick you up. After making sure that the victim is genuinely terrified they ask him to pay 5k/10k depending on your profile. They even have a fake IVR at the start of the call to make the scam sound genuine I asked a few questions to the first caller and he must have realized I already know about this scam.
