Cyber Safety and Preparedness: Protecting Citizens in the Digital Age! 🔐 Inaugurated 'Cyber Awareness Month October 2025' in Mumbai today. Highlighted the growing challenges of cybercrime in our rapidly digitalizing world. Today, cyber threats are evolving faster than ever, AI misuse has made phishing, OTP frauds, deepfakes, voice and face cloning, and scams like Digital Arrest more prevalent. Unfortunately, many victims hesitate to report incidents due to fear of embarrassment. Stressed that preventing cybercrime is as important as punishing it. Awareness, timely reporting, and education are critical to safeguarding our society. Maharashtra has established world-class cyber security labs, rapid response cell, and regulatory mechanisms to ensure swift action. Every digital crime leaves a 'digital fingerprint', and our systems are constantly upgraded to trace and act quickly. Citizens are urged to remain vigilant and to contact helplines 1930 or 1945 in case of scams to avoid major losses. Reaching out to the youth is a priority. They must understand the threats and adopt safe digital practices. I was pleased that Akshay Kumar and Rani Mukerji joined this initiative, helping amplify the message of cyber awareness across the state, ensuring that the lessons of safety, vigilance, and responsibility reach every citizen, especially the younger generation. Together, through education, technology, and timely action, we are building a safer digital Maharashtra. #Maharashtra #CyberAwarenessMonth

Conducted a comprehensive review of the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau and assessed how technology is being leveraged across every stage of cybercrime prevention, investigation and citizen assistance. The CSB Director and her team briefed me on the cybercrime landscape, key trends and figures, technology adoption etc., I visited the Cyber Lab, Security Operations Centre and Digital Forensic Unit, and observed an AI-powered Cyber Call Centre that can interact with victims, capture critical information and instantly alert the jurisdictional police station. The data for 2025 reflected both progress and the scale of the challenge. Cybercrime complaints declined by 3%, financial losses reduced by nearly 20% compared to the previous year, and ₹279 crore was freezed(Put on Hold) Telangana registered 21,639 cybercrime FIRs, accounting for 44% of all such FIRs in the country, reflecting strong citizen reporting and proactive enforcement. At the same time, cyber offences accounted for one in every four major crime FIRs in Telangana and caused financial losses of ₹1,524 crore. However , TG has been lagging behind on some parameters being reviewed by the prime minister and the government of India and directed the officers to update the softwares and feed in the data properly and improve the state rankings at national level . Cybercriminals continue to target citizens through investment frauds, trading scams, digital arrest scams and other sophisticated methods that rob ordinary families of their lifetime savings. I have directed the Bureau to further expand AI-driven citizen services, strengthen advanced analytics and specialised investigation capabilities, ensure every officer continuously upgrades technological skills to stay ahead of emerging threats, and actively support police units across the State in cybercrime investigations. Telangana must emerge as the national benchmark in cyber policing. My appeal to every citizen is simple: Cybercriminals often lure you on the promise of easy and high returns. So if an offer appears too good to be true, pause and verify. Report cyber fraud on 1930.

Conducted a comprehensive review of the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau today, inspecting our Cyber Lab, Security Operations Centre, Central Monitoring Unit, Social Media Unit, Child Protection Unit, and Digital Forensic Unit. Director Ms. Shikha Goel, IPS and senior officers presented a detailed briefing on emerging cybercrime trends, investigative techniques and our technological roadmap. I have personally witnessed our AI-powered Cyber Call Centre in action when a caller reported a financial fraud, the system responded with empathy, captured critical details and instantly alerted the concerned police station. This is the future of citizen first policing and I've directed officials to expand such AI-driven services further. Telangana's numbers speak for themselves. In 2025, we recorded a 20% reduction in cyber fraud losses compared to 2024, even as we registered 21,639 cybercrime FIRs, 44% of all cybercrime FIRs in India. That makes us No.1 in the nation. Our FIR conversion rate touched 78% in high value fraud cases above 75 lakh. The amount held in fraudsters' accounts rose from 255 crore to 279 crore . At the same time, I want to be transparent about where we must improve. On national portal performance indicators, Telangana stands 4th in Grievance Redressal Mechanism (GRM) and 6th in Coordination both reflecting reasonable strength. But we rank 18th in Money Refund Mechanism (MRM) and 17th on the Sahayog Portal and these numbers are not acceptable for a state that leads the country in FIR registration. A state topping the nation in enforcement cannot afford to lag in victim refunds and inter-portal coordination. I have directed officials to treat this as an immediate priority and close this gap on a war footing. Cybercrime today accounts for one in every four major crime FIRs in our state and financial losses from cyber fraud 1,524 crore are nearly seven times higher than losses from all other major crimes combined 207crore. This is not a side issue this is the primary threat we face. I have directed every officer to build strong technological skills, adopt AI and advanced analytics nd treat cyber investigation as core policing, not a specialisation. Families are losing lifetime savings to investment frauds and online scams. Telangana has the potential to be India's leading state in cyber policing. We will get there through technology, rapid response and zero tolerance. #TelanganaPolice
