It is unlikely that they don't know about it. They intentionally let it pass because they want more people to come to their website and that will only happen if people see pictures of good-looking women there. What happens later is not their concern.

Yes, people need to do thoer homework well before jumping on to these matrimonial websites / apps. We got scammed Re. 39000 for a platinum subscription promising the sky a year ago. No dedicated senior customer service despite repeated complaint, no receipt, plenty fake profiles

Yes this has happened to me too. I used to get calls for years after I had deleted my profile. They used my phone number too. A lot of big names in matrimony apps are doing this.
