A police pursuit involving a stolen vehicle in southern Utah came to a quick end when a Washington County sheriff's deputy deployed a Grappler Police Bumper, wrapping a tether around the vehicle's rear tire. The pursuit began Wednesday after police were alerted to a vehicle reported stolen out of California entering Utah on I-15 from Arizona. Deputies say the driver repeatedly refused to stop and even tried to take off again after the Grappler was deployed, backing up in an attempt to break free. It didn't work. The system held the vehicle in place, and deputies and Hurricane police officers pulled the driver from the vehicle and took the suspect into custody. The suspect was booked on suspicion of possessing a stolen vehicle, evading police, driving on a suspended license and having an open container in the vehicle.
