School discipline plummeted under the Obama administration, because school districts risked a DOJ lawsuit if they suspended black students at a higher rate than white students. At the same time, punishment for black males in the juvenile justice system dropped by 2/3. Results? Escalating juvenile crime and violent "teen takeovers."

Yes I remember during the Obama years they tried to stop the dreaded school-to-jail pipeline by not reporting juvenile crime in high schools . That is how the Parkland shooter in Florida got through. He had various reportable offenses that were ignored because of that .

We had a young black girl work in our ice cream shop. She was polite, respectful, and good with customers. So one day I asked her about the violence among young black women. She just laughed and said “because it’s fun”. Turns out she had been arrested for fighting and her younger sister had spent 18 months in youth detention for stabbing a girl at school. In NJ, district suspensions are monitored by race. If you suspend more minorities than the state thinks is appropriate, you will have to make an Action Plan which means not suspending minority students.

I remember a professional development where they essentially told us to stop writing up black kids. Than a year later, cheered about how fewer the wrote ups were and it was a success

Obama was a trickster using the DOJ corruptly implementing race based juvenile delinquency. So facts are irrelevant with Obama. If more black students are disciplined than whites it was automatically deemed racism requiring DOJ lawsuit. Obama’s policy was racist and DOJ officials accepted it rendering the DOJ under Obama racist.

Most people have now idea how much school violence (and teen violence) has escalated ever since Obama was President. He told his Justice Department to tell schools that they shouldn't suspend or charge students who are violent or even those who commit crimes because of the "disparate" impact on students of color. That is typical Democrat doublespeak which is actually an admission that students of color commit far more crimes that white students so they said schools must ignore it. Unbelievable. In fact, this is the same idiocy that encourages "no bail" and "defund the police" policies and "social justice" prosecutions; even though it is a statistical fact that 13% of the population commits 60% of violent felonies. Less jail time and more lenient sentences for the worst criminals amongst us. This policy has allowed juveniles convicted of crimes as serious as violent assaults and even rape back into normal classrooms. For example, in Broward county their "Policy 5006" said that referring serious felonies like sexual assault and arson to police was optional. Even though Trump (in his first term) repealed the Obama era edicts at the Federal level they were implemented throughout the country and are still in place in most public schools. Even simple policies like dress codes and not using cellphones in class are rarely enforced leaving teachers to cope with students that are openly defiant, totally lack discipline, and even cuss or call teachers "racist" with little or no consequence. Add in CRT and the whole everything is "racist" victim mentality and is it any wonder that we see this kind of violence in schools and kids carjacking in all our cities and gangs of youths on shoplifting rampages and teen crime sprees with apparent impunity. The ONLY thing that ever hinders crime in either adults or children is fear of and actual consequences. No more "no bail" and "social justice" prosecutions and sentences. We need to get back to a society that provides serious consequences for all crimes; especially violent crimes committed by repeat offenders and any youth that rapes someone or commits a serious assault that kills someone should be tried as an adult.

When they started doing this in 2013 under the false "school to prison pipeline" mantra, I thought they were setting kids up for prison life, teaching no consequences until they aged out of school. Now I know this is their model for all Justice, excuse crime for certain races.

This is true- School suspension and expelling has to show equal punishment of black & white students with NO CONSIDERATION of the demographics of the school. So if you have a 80% white school with 20% black students the white students are going to automatically be penalized to keep suspensions “Equal” So you can imagine what a 💩Show this is when you have majority white schools with smaller black populations and vice versa. This results in white kids being unjustly suspended for minor offenses while a black kid is assaulting a teacher, another student or bringing a knife to school and it’s a quick talk with the principal with a juice box and a snack with a “Get back to class” This policy states a school admin can’t discipline a black student until a white student suspensions are equal to the black suspensions and it takes ZERO consideration for the population % of demographics of the School or punishable offense. It’s why the victim of an assault or bullying gets suspended right along with the bully. It’s the dumbest policy ever.

The USA was also nearly 80% white when Obama took office and he left office with the white population at 58%.

The Obama admin dear colleagues letter (DCL) was a travesty that led to both worse educational environments and more murder (including many more black male victims).
