@PeterHotez @joerogan @elonmusk Dr. Hotez is an absolute champion of public health with remarkable patience in dealing with science illiteracy and harassers who support the public health hazard that is the anti-vaccine movement.

I'm gonna be honest with you, Doctor Mike - and I say this because I have a tremendous amount of respect for you. The problem isn't trusting or distrusting scientists or doctors. The problem is that people are largely conflating what's being written *about the science* with the actual science. I can't stress enough how big of a problem that is. People will see some article (I don't care if it's conservative or liberal biased, or conspiracy theory or now), and take what it says "as the science". But 90% of the time, those articles are flat out wrong - or are misrepresenting or downplaying crucial aspects of the science (usually because the author has a political goal, but sometimes because the author doesn't fully understand the science).

@PeterHotez @joerogan @elonmusk Doctors aren't trained to debate (unlike lawyers) because science is a cooperative effort where we try to figure out what is objectively true. Hotez already talked to RFK in private to try to educate him. Debating him would be pointless because there is no changing his mind.
