This is crazy true, I used to hang out with a group of guys and I still consider them friends but they never supported anything I wanted to pursue, it was always criticism. I stopped spending time with them and met some new people that encouraged me to push further and I did 😁

It’s what I taught my early teen kids. 1) I got up on a chair. And was trying to demonstrate how easy it is for ppl to drag them down ( I had them pull me off the chair) and how hard it is for them to pull someone else up. ( I had them try to pull me up onto the chair with them) Don’t lecture. Demonstrate. Make it fun and thought provoking. 2) I told them: surround urself with ppl who have what u want. ( spiritually! Not materially) 3) make what u desire happen. Believe, or see urself in that career, that university, that business etc. There’s Power in positive frequency. Just KNOW u got the job u really want. Hand in the application knowing the same. It’s powerful and works. 4) Our family travel motto: high sense of adventure, low expectations. With that no one got upset if things didn’t go as planned. In fact I think it’s better to get lost and see where u end up. ( safety first obviously) The kids stayed open minded and attitude was upbeat and excited. Side note: road trips with ur teens are very valuable. My kids and I had the best most informative, real, honest conversations on road trips. ( plus they can’t escape!)
