Putting yourself in Scherzer’s eye sent me

Thanks, Jimmy. I'm so smart now because of you.

"Not once. Okay, maybe once." 😂

For those confused the simplest way to explain it is if you don’t tag up the defending team needs to appeal before they leave the field. If they don’t, the run counts. The Blue Jays left the field so it counts. Their argument is the ump said no run so they reacted to that.

"I hope that...uh...thanks for watching." 🤣🤣🤣 Great stuff all the way around!

After watching this, I think Scherzer kind of has a point

Been waiting all day for this, let’s goooo

I still don't understand how he scored when he didn't tag up at third. I thought that was a requirement for advancing bases after a caught ball.

if only there was a video answering that question in full

Yeah, I guess I missed that detail, man; there's a lot to process there. Was that the appeal the Jays should have made?

@Jomboy_ Did you even watch the video?

Yeah, twice, and I'm clearly not the only one that didnt understand the core issue at hand after watching it. Seems like others have never heard the term appeal play. That's not a dig on Jimmy or the video, it's just not something you come across watching baseball only on occasion.

@TalkinBaseball_ Christ I really sat through that and it was worth it! Love learning more about the game I love

I sort of understand. However, Seigler really didn't have that big of a brain; had he known there were one out, he tags and a run is scored. If the trail runner is paying attention, he's at first with 2 out. Home plate ump screwed up by waving off the run.

MLB doing everything they can to help the Red sux win.

@TalkinBaseball_ We all been waiting for this

Thanks Jimmy, I’m so smart now because of you.

Thanks Jimmy. I’m so smart now, because of you!

@TalkinBaseball_ Oh come on, stop blaming the scoreboard ffs. Out of 2 players and 2 coaches at least 1 should know how many outs there was. Inexcusable.

@TalkinBaseball_ The only thing I’m not understanding is that nationals game and what the third baseman did wrong as tagging the runner vs stepping on the base

I was visiting from Seattle to check off another stadium and had the honor of witnessing the chaos in person.

Don’t think these runs should count if you don’t tag up. It shouldn’t matter which base you step on imo..don’t understand this rule at all

Scoreboard is not the problem. Base coaches need to be accountable

@TalkinBaseball_ 16+ minutes 😂

@Ellielelll I’ll save this to watch later, I’m just watching the Jays beat the Red Sox again

Insane that you don’t have to tag on a sac fly from 3rd to home, if they dbl someone else off instead. Trying this at my next slo-pitch game just to waste everyone’s time.

John Schneider always looks like he got cut off in traffic.

Weirdest thing since the wedged ball

I think the best way to think about this is a situation where the guy on third tags up but leaves a millisecond before the catch. No one sees it until the next inning starts. Obviously they can’t appeal it. The umpire has no obligation to say anything unless it’s appealed.

Very much on Toronto’s side here. The umpires should be aware enough to not wave the run off. It’s not right to retract that decision and not allow teams to react to the retraction.

Even if they had appealed at 3rd after the appeal at 1st wouldn’t that have been the next play? And therefore unreviewable?

Best explanation I’ve seen so far…I was at the game, and couldn’t figure it out in real time!

Hypothetical. If the runners were on 1st and 2nd. They all run with 1 out. The ball is hit in right field and caught, followed by them throwing to first base for the 3rd out. Now... instead of the runner on 2nd going to third he bee lines for home base to score before they tag 1st. Does the score count? The runner can leave the baseline as long as he isn't involved in a defensive play. What I am trying to get to, do all "rules" get tossed when another play happens after a score?

@TalkinBaseball_ Would the “4th out” work here? Looks like the Nats 3rd Basemen tagged the trail runner AND stepped on 3rd. Wouldn’t that mean the runner that scored is the “4th out?” You say that run counted

Thanks Jimmy I'm so smart because of you

@TalkinBaseball_ God bless Max Scherzer

Now wait that's at least 5 Jays on the field not 3 LMAO. But amazing video thanks Jimmy

Thanks, Jimmy. Great breakdown as always. One thing I question is do all the players have to leave the field before it's too late to appeal, or just the IFers? My understanding is it's just the IF.

Most anticipated video this year. More than the Odyssey lol
