Thousands of Somalis took to the streets today in multiple cities, including Hargeisa, Borama, and Laascaanood, in northern Somalia, to protest Israel's illegal recognition of Somaliland regions of Somalia. Demonstrators condemned the move as a violation of Somalia's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. Protesters also voiced strong opposition to the Somaliland leader's trip to Israel, arguing that it does not represent the will of the Somali people and undermines national unity.

I am pleased to meet with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Dolmabahçe Palace in Istanbul. We emphasized the importance of strengthening relations between Türkiye and the Kurdistan Region. We also discussed efforts to form a new federal cabinet. We both hoped that the new federal cabinet will promote peace and stability in Iraq, serve all communities without discrimination, and resolve issues between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government on the basis of the Constitution. On the peace process and the disarmament of the PKK, I reiterated my support for the process, and we stressed the importance of continuing the efforts to ensure its success and completion.

The 194-kilometer Hargeisa–Odweyne–Burco road is a vital infrastructure project that will strengthen connectivity between western and eastern Somaliland. Its strategic and economic importance lies in providing a more direct route for the movement of goods, services, and people between the capital, Hargeisa, and the country’s second-largest city, Burco, reducing reliance on the longer route through Sheikh and Berbera. The Somaliland government should make this road a top development priority. Completing the project would stimulate economic growth, improve transportation efficiency, enhance regional integration, and contribute significantly to the modernization of Somaliland’s infrastructure.
