I think that’s fundamentally unfair, and billionaires do this by using loopholes in order to lower their taxable income. California is looking to implement a wealth tax on billionaires. On their after-tax & pre-tax holdings based on net worth. Which is by far, the absolute dumbest thing you can do. Especially given the fact that many billionaires, don’t have liquidity to pay for that tax burden. Many tech billionaires, early on, reach that status on a paper basis. Based on funding rounds and the valuation used. Those shares, generally get locked in. Meaning they don’t have the money to pay for the damn tax. This type of tax will create a massive outflow of investments. It will lead to an economic, entrepreneurial & investment decline. It’s utter madness. Canada, is very similar to California. The laws, regulations, & socialist approach to problems. We can never allow this to happen in our country. It’s a disaster waiting to happen.
