JUST IN: A federal judge put Trump's $1.7 billion slush fund on notice. Judge Richard Leon pressed DOJ lawyers to put in writing that the fund isn't moving forward. When asked why they wouldn't, the DOJ's answer was: "I don't know." The fund survived today's hearing, but the judge delivered a pointed warning to the DOJ: if the administration is telling the court the fund is not moving forward, then it better not move forward. Scott MacFarlane reports that Democracy Forward has formally demanded the Trump administration preserve all records related to Trump’s $10 billion lawsuit against his own IRS. That lawsuit was abruptly dismissed before a federal judge could determine whether it was a collusive attempt to use the courts to bless a taxpayer-funded payout. Democracy Forward CEO Skye Perryman says the newly created fund is “completely unlawful” and that legal action is coming. Tillis said he is satisfied about Todd Blanche's answers on January 6th—even though Todd Blanche has been an apologist for January 6th defendants and championed the pardons, he's satisfied Tillis on that issue. The wedge issue does remain the slush fund. Tillis says he still wants better answers on what's become of that $1.76 billion taxpayer funded handout to convicted crooks. And if you look at that list of questions the senate has for Todd Blanche, that's the one that jumps out. I mean, it's like a grocery list full of things they want to know about, but the slush fund still lands the wrong way.
