Scottish Labour going into complete shutdown and refusing interviews for days is a news story in and of itself. The Scotland Office, MPs and MSPs. Anas Sarwar, Douglas Alexander, Kirsty McNeil, Michael Shanks, Jackie Baillie. And nobody can find them.

He fought to become FM with everything he had and no one should deny him the opportunity to try and help Scotland from a different political position, as many have done before him, if he wishes to. Sarwar says his “first loyalty is to Scotland” and that the distraction in Downing Street must end to protect Scotland’s NHS, schools, and communities. Sarwar is the first senior Labour figure to make the call, but for a party that claims to be unionist, the rhetoric sounds uncomfortably close to the Scottish National Party playbook.
