A confrontation then broke out between the man and people nearby, as parade-goers reacted to the open Nazi imagery and antisemitic provocation in the middle of one of the world’s largest public displays of support for Israel. The parade, held along Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue, drew tens of thousands of marchers and supporters under heavy NYPD security, amid heightened concern over antisemitism in New York and across the U.S. The incident comes just weeks after multiple antisemitic incidents in New York, including a swastika-adorned flag raised over an NYU building and reports of swastika and “Heil Hitler” graffiti targeting Jewish sites.
