Great film. I can't believe anyone watched it more than once. It's like the sniper scene in Full Metal Jacket. I change the channel.

Still, Fincher's craftsmanship in building tension remains undeniable.

Se7en (1995) David Fincher must've annoyed the Academy. Se7en only received one nomination, for Editing, when it should've picked up all the major technical awards. And Morgan Freeman should've been recognised for his acting. Se7en still feels fresh 30 years later. #Oscars 21/

SE7EN (1995) Fincher fought the studio to keep this ending. A Perfect finale to a perfect film.

Se7en (1995) I watched a late night showing of Se7en. I've never witnessed an audience jump as much as they did during this Sloth scene. It was absolutely the last thing anybody was expecting. David Fincher is a genius. #horror #halloween

Se7en (1995, Fincher) "I like stories to unfold in certain kinds of ways, and I don’t like shorthand, and I don’t like to be told who’s evil. I don’t want to know who the villain is, I don’t want to know who the hero is." --- David Fincher

30 years later and no movie has ever matched the absolute, suffocating claustrophobia of Se7en. The rain, the grime, the lighting, David Fincher didn't just direct a movie, he built a nightmare. 🎬📺 Se7en ❤️🔥

David Fincher on the type of people who like "Se7en" (1995) & "The Game" (1997): "My Mom has seen "Se7en" (1995). I think she saw it at the premiere. I don’t think she was that impressed with it. I think my mum liked "The Game" (1997) a lot. It’s weird: you never know the subsets of people who like different things about your work. You know, it’s like accountants and lawyers all love 'The Game', and college students and perverts all like 'Se7en'." (David Fincher's interview with Nev Pierce, 2009) P.S: Happy 66th birthday, Sean Penn!

The third act of Se7en (1995) still feels horrifyingly inevitable once John Doe gets in that car. Fincher strips away every last bit of hope. New Line Cinema reportedly wanted a different ending, but Fincher & Pitt fought hard to keep the box scene intact.

Se7en doesn’t age a day. Every frame drips with atmosphere, dark and meticulous. Fincher at his most haunting.

Brad Pitt was at his lowest until SE7EN (1995) “I read seven pages, I go, ‘Are you kidding me?’ Then I meet with Fincher, he talked about films like I never heard anyone before. It reinvigorated what I wanted of this thing.”
