Regular sealcoating can reduce long-term repair costs by preventing damage and delaying the need for full resurfacing.

Sealcoating protects asphalt from water, oils, and UV damage, often applied in two coats with a 24-48 hour cure time. It's debated for effectiveness in preventing cracks, mainly filling larger ones temporarily. Environmentally, it reduces resource use and pollution but coal tar sealants are banned in over 100 U.S. areas due to water contamination risks.
