Sean Penn absolutely needs to act more. His performance in #OneBattleAfterAnother is a reminder that Penn is a once in a lifetime talent. Penn was the face of a generation of actors. He’s only 65 & I really hope he has another few decades of great performances. What an actor.

Sean Penn has spent his entire career taking risks. It’s why he owns 3 Academy Awards & it’s why I really stand by Penn as an artist. I can’t think of another actor who’s had a filmography similar to Penn- and that includes Jack Nicholson, who both Penn and I admire. Penn’s biggest strength is his unpredictability.

Sean Penn has already proven himself to be an outstanding director. Don’t believe me? Clearly you haven’t seen Into the Wild. This film made such an impression on me when I was in high school. It still has power over me. The fact Penn directed this film, in addition to winning 3 Oscars as an actor, is so fucking impressive. Personal feelings aside, Penn is a special artist.
