Unfortunately that is in every major city. That is why we should punish Mexico until they decide to rid themselves of cartel drug smuggling. One thing that would push the issue is if we stopped their citizens ability to send American Dollars across the border to their Mexican families. Just stop ALL money transfers to Mexico.

I worked years at 3rd and Union just a few blocks down from Pike. It was clean and bustling. In the evenings we would walk to restaurants around the city and never felt unsafe. I haven’t been there in about 7 years. I refuse to go into the city and I use I-405 instead of I-5 to get past Seattle.
