The City of San Diego just passed a $25/hr minimum wage for some hotels, Sea World and Petco Park, but not for city workers. According to the City Council, employees at these businesses deserve a “living wage,” but what about workers at the other businesses? What about the workers at City Hall? The City acknowledged they can’t expand this to workers at City Hall because it’s too expensive. If the City is unwilling to subject themselves to their own policy, maybe it’s just bad policy.

We need to be less concerned with inmate pay and a *lot* more concerned with raising firefighter pay. The USFS doesn’t even classify Hotshots as firefighters, and they pay them 1/3 of what municipal firefighters get for doing the same job, and the USFS recently lost 40% of their firefighters. And it’s about to get even worse…Congress is about to cut their pay in half in a few months. Nearly every single CA congressman recently voted against raising their pay to a living wage.

We need to fix that, bring Hollywood back, and make it easier for our restaurants to thrive here at home.

The City Attorney of Seattle put out a press release in February accusing a liberal judge of being incompetent, saying the judge dismissed a case where a defendant refused to get on a van to go to a treatment center. I filed a Public Disclosure Request to get a recording of the actual court hearing. It turns out the defendant was in a wheelchair, and they had made arrangements to get on the transport van but they weren't allowed to because of the wheelchair and their upcoming surgery appointments. (And later a judge ruled in the case that this was a valid reason.) Where the mic cuts out at the end (because I went over 2 minutes), I'm saying "This should probably be a bigger scandal."
