A gay cruise chartered by Atlantis Events was denied entry to Turkey for being "incompatible" with the country's "moral values." So the ship rerouted to Alexandria, Egypt instead. Egypt denied them too. Similarly, during the FIFA World Cup, Seattle designated a "Pride Match" before even knowing which teams would play it and by pure coincidence, Iran and Egypt got the matchup. Egypt's Football Federation "categorically rejected" anything tied to "supporting homosexuality." Iran called it "an irrational move" and filed an official complaint. Turkey has banned Pride marches since 2015. Egypt ranks in one of the lowest spots on the LGBTQ equality indexes. And as for Iran, same-sex conduct carries a death penalty. Yet the reaction from Western queer activists to actual, real-time oppression? Silence. Compare that to the noise around Israel, the only country in the Middle East where LGBTQ people are legally protected and same-sex marriages are recognized, and the only country in the region where a gay cruise would be welcomed. Calling the only country in the region that protects LGBTQ people “pinkwashing,” while ignoring regimes that persecute or kill them, is not solidarity. It's hypocrisy. A couple of takeaways from tonight's World Cup "Pride" match between Egypt & Iran in Seattle: - Tonight wasn't just a soccer match—it was a test of whether Seattle's politicians actually believe the values they claim to champion. If you're going to celebrate Pride, why stay silent when teams from countries that execute gay people come to your city? This was the Pride movement's biggest opportunity to make a statement—and they completely missed it. If America stands for free speech and equal rights, then don't apologize for it. Say it proudly. A soccer game comes and goes. Taking a stand for American values would have been remembered. -The politicians who never miss an opportunity to virtue signal suddenly became very quiet when it actually mattered. The people protesting the Iranian regime showed more consistency than the politicians who claim to champion LGBTQ rights. This could have been a defining moment for Seattle. Instead, city leaders chose silence. If your principles disappear the moment they're inconvenient, they aren't principles—they're performance." -Where were all the activists? Protests are spreading rapidly across both small towns and major cities in Iran. The slogans echoing through the streets speak of one thing only: love for Iran. The Iranian people have never accepted—and never will accept—being reduced to an abstract “Muslim ummah” under a coercive regime that seeks to erase their national identity. Iranian patriotism stands firm against a government that has tried, unsuccessfully, to redefine a nation with a civilization thousands of years old. While the Islamic Republic has spent Iran’s oil and gas wealth on terrorist groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah, the Iranian people respond with a clear and powerful cry: “Neither Gaza nor Lebanon — my life for Iran.” Another widely chanted slogan, “This is the final battle; Pahlavi will return,” is born from the same deep love for the homeland. For many Iranians, the Pahlavi name symbolizes national security, dignity, and a strong sense of national pride. Iranians have only one identity: Iranian. They were never an “Islamic ummah,” and they will never embrace terrorists who kill innocent people in the name of ideology. The world must understand this: when Iran is free, and a secular democratic government comes to power, political Islam will begin to lose its influence far beyond Iran’s borders. A warning to Americans about living under Sharia Law from a woman who used to live in Iran - “In Iran, you can get arrested for walking a dog and then they can take your dog away because according to Islam, dogs are najis, which means unclean - In Iran, you will get arrested. If you do so, you will be executed - In Iran, they would line us up as children force hijab on us and force us to chant Death to America. I wouldn't call that school. I would call that a cult that is trying to brainwash children into a terrorist mindset. - In Iran, there are stations with regime forces and they can stop your car and see if the person next to you is a girlfriend, a boyfriend, or you're married to. If you're married to them, you can get arrested in 5 years. Imagine that a Big Mac went from $6 to $600. That's exactly what happened in Iran. Well, roughly. I think it's even more than that. And everything. I'm telling you, it's not even the worst thing that's happening in Iran. Every time people request a regime change and they start to protest, the regime shuts off the internet and starts shooting people with military grade weapons, children. Regime forces in the past two to three weeks have killed more than 50,000 people.
