We have a problem in our society that we must come to grips with. We have members of our society who celebrate an assassination, and we need a dramatic course correction. Anyone who mocks the murder of an innocent father goes beyond the bounds of what is humane, and it must end. We as a society, we as a state, must send a signal that celebrating the assassination of a free speech advocate is wrong in a civil society.

Our people, it’s high time we had a serious conversation about how our society speaks to and treats the girl child. It’s high time we talked about what kind of culture and what kind of society we want to be. There is no greater sign of civilization than how a society treats its women. If our girls are not safe in our streets, not safe online, and not safe at home then we cannot claim to be a civilized society. Tomorrow, when someone starts to preach a contrary message to our women and girls, the only reason they may find an opportunity is because we as a society have first laid the foundation through our actions or inactions. Our girls should be proud and safe in our streets. We are better than this and it is our responsibility to set a better example for our young men and young women. Share this story to spread the awareness. LETS TREAT OUR WOMEN AND GIRLS WITH RESPECT. Credit: julie_adaugo

Do we want to allow our society to be undermined from within in this way — and our youth and our children to be endangered?
