Second pass through Hurricane Melissa entering from the southwest side. Passed NOAA in the eye wall as they headed outbound for home. Obviously a very powerful storm but a relatively straightforward one on this flight. Much less nasty meso activity than 36 hours ago.

makes sense, when melissa was rapidly intensifying those mesovorticies were spinning so rapidly and violently to induce those rapid pressure falls. now it’s more steady state incredible power

This storm still has some room to strengthen, unfortunately, as the relatively large eye could constrict even further in this prime environment! By tomorrow night into Monday, a north and northeast turn toward Jamaica is forecast, with a mega disaster likely there regardless of direct landfall. Stay away from the shoreline, creeks and rivers and find a concrete structure if you can!

On this day, 24 years ago, one of the most powerful tornadoes in recorded history happened in central Oklahoma. Tragically, 46 people lost their lives on this day with 74 tornadoes confirmed in a single day. Here is the F5 from southwest of Moore. This was just prior to the research indicating overpasses are not a viable shelter from a tornado, as the flow can accelerate through the gap.

And from what I've seen, and I say this as someone that criticized Liberals most of my parliamentary career, the team assembled here is doing a very good job, and I hope they can drive home a deal -- they're certainly pushing for that."

🚨SATELLITE VIEW OF HURRICANE MELISSA WAS CUT FOR 11 HOURS TODAY. I couldn't see a darn thing on the NOAA slider... once again. EVERY SINGLE HURRICANE HITTING NEAR THE U.S.A. & EUROPE HAS GONE OFFLINE THIS YEAR. This pattern has become so obvious that I've publicly predicted, DOWN TO THE DAY, when these feeds would be cut. Every single time. Why is that? How can the exact same glitch happen so predictably? (And yes the noaa website offers similar images, however navigating them is far less effective/efficient than it is on the NOAA slider due to lack of high res zoom-ins and filter options etc.)
