Second snake this week. The Pyrenees don't let any perceived threat near their sheep.

Those dogs are fearless. Had one for about 10 years. Now I have a par of great danes guarding my animals. Only downside at all to a pyre is the Oklahoma summers seem to be pretty hard on em. 😎👊

They certainly are not big fans of the heat.

I absolutely love Great Pyrenees so much I adopted my Angel!

👍👍

I would be cheering them on but at the same time yelling at them to leave it alone so they don’t get hurt 🤪

Yeah, they are hyper focused.

You have great guard dogs. Hope neither one was hurt.

Thank you

Too bad it is a harmless bullsnake. Good thing for the dogs though.

Yeah, they don't discriminate.

I love pyrenese!! Had one bring me a dead badger.

Nothing like a good present. LOL

True... one is didn't expect! 🤣🤣

I had a friend that had a goat cheese business. 150 goats. She had one of these guys and he was with her all the time and protecting the goats. Amazing dogos.

They definitely take their job seriously.

I have had at least 1 GP here at my ranch for about 15 years. We have cattle and chickens. Curious about poisonous snakes though?? Can a GP kill one without being bit, and if they are??

Usually they don't get bit. That one on the left got hit by a rattler last week. These Pyrs are different. They will swell up a little for about a day and then are fine. Fortunately, it doesn't happen often.

I lived edge of town w no poison snakes, so was always welcoming them into yard. I didn't dare say "look a snake" or point one out, or my doberman would be slinging snake guts before I could grab him. Must be a dog thing.

The good ones are nice to have to keep the rodent population down.

@PalomaGablice Brave dogs.

Awesome dogs, once they let you in, lol

Exactly

Good doggy’s!

The best!

@RealMrBean99 Read about the big bad pyrenees that got shredded by a wolf near boise. Also read about the big bad PAIR of pyrenees that tucked tail and let wolves pile a whole bunch of sheep into a drainage and suffocate near boise.

@RealMrBean99 That's why every good Sheepman has a posse of LGDs. No single dog can protect an entire herd.

Do they leave the carcass as an example to other snakes?

They usually parade it around like a war trophy.

Very smart tactics

Fantastic work dogs!!

👀

@treadaway_117 What a great breed!

@treadaway_117 They are really good at what they do.

Good Pups!!!

👍👍

Until a wolf comes along......

One wolf wouldn't be much of a deterrent to a passel of Pyrs from my experience.

YIkes!!! Enjoy your evening!!!

Thanks

That is so crazy!! I pay they never get bit by one!!!

They get bit every now and then. They will swell for about a day and are then fine. Not much of a problem.

They don't get bit??

Sometimes. Not often. They just swell up for about a day and are fine afterwards. Doesn't happen very often.

Please give them big hugs!🤗

👍👍

Those dogs are amazing 👏 😍

They certainly are.

😊

No Fear, Pure Guard

good dog. i guess he will eat the snake. 👊

amazing dogs!

👍

100% rattle snake! Get em boys!

Admire the diligence in searching out the best grip to administer the effective shake-whip that stops the snake!

They're fearlessly protecting their flock. You trained them well.

It's all instinct.

The snake is going WTF did I do..🤣..but Pyrenees are awesome dogs 🐕❤️
