Secretary Howard Lutnick explains how foreign countries use taxes/tariffs on American products to subsidize their exports: "This is the reordering of FAIR trade. People think it's all about tariffs — it's about those non-tariff trade barriers. That's what we are addressing."

Howard Lutnick’s spot-on. Foreign nations slap sky-high tariffs and crafty non-tariff barriers on U.S. goods while dumping subsidized products here. The United States Reciprocal Trade Act (H.R. 735) tackles this head-on, authorizing reciprocal tariffs to level the playing field. Section 3(b)(2) lets us match foreign duties or nontariff barriers—like Europe’s auto tariffs or China’s tech restrictions. This isn’t just about tariffs; it’s about ending rigged systems where adversaries exploit open markets while blocking ours. The administration’s America First Investment Policy already restricts adversarial investments in critical sectors. Fair trade means fighting back against all forms of economic warfare, not just tariffs.

@howardlutnick Trade isn’t just about slapping tariffs - it’s about stopping unfair advantages hidden behind the scenes. This is long overdue.
